Looks like a RDP fan favorite is being resurrected.
Barron for sure. I know for a fact it is at this point, a solid objectWill we get the Epstein files or the new Barron first?
240300T?
300T?
I always thought it was odd that they’d cut up arguably their most popular model lol.Wait truly the OG 240?
The one that was cut up?![]()
Did they know it was the most popular prior to the 255 coming out. Maybe they thought the modern looking 255 would take over, so why keep the old model?I always thought it was odd that they’d cut up arguably their most popular model lol.

As for the 242S coming out. No way the base price is going to be less than a Tahiti.
I would say base around $140k.
Why not, once a new one comes out, the old product is not "supported" any longer. The issue in this case, is the new one didn't appeal to the masses but I'm sure it took sometime to find that out and the old one was already gone. From what I remember Hallett basically forced the issue lol. Because I think people would have continued to buy the 240.

What company in those days when these were coming out were pushing out of the box thinking? Unfortunately for Hallett the trends/performance they designed didn't work out so well.Hallett had a reputation of telling a customer what they wanted for a while lol.
245
250
27 cat
I know I’m forgetting some. Hard to argue that the clientele wanted 210, 240, 270 and 300. Even to this day that’s what people look for used.
I don’t mean to bash them. Companies need to always be evolving, but I think ego gets the best of west coast boat builders.
Howard with the Bullet line for V bottoms. What company in those days when these were coming out were pushing out of the box thinking? Unfortunately for Hallett the trends/performance they designed didn't work out so well.
Man I miss the late 90's early 2000's.Howard with the Bullet line for V bottoms.
I believe that’s around when the Lavey 2750 came out.
Advantage X flight
The Howard and Lavey were just larger models of the same bottom really. The X flight is out of the box thinking similar to what Hallett was trying to do with those models, just didn't perform all the well.Howard with the Bullet line for V bottoms.

Apparently the 24 v bottom isn’t dead, 2 are sold already from what I’ve heard. The 24' V bottom is dead. Not because people wouldn't love to have one but because the price no longer makes sense.
The Barron Deck was priced like all the other high end decks in the market and being a new company/Design I don't think they sold many.
This new model will be the same as most families just can't afford or justify a 140k boat. Its not the manufactures fault the crazy cost of power and a drive unit from mercury is ridiculous and the materials and hardware have doubled.
What's a mercury 540 and bravo cost these days 50-55k? I just don't see any way to build a boat and turn a profit for what i would consider a reasonable cost as a buyer.
I guess it would have been pretty easy to figure out what your most popular model was but who knows. Sounds like this new Barron is the 240 though from what’s being said here. It’ll be cool to see the first one. Could be a popular setup depending on price point as has been mentioned.Did they know it was the most popular prior to the 255 coming out. Apparently Chris Barron, but no idea how he’s related.Very cool. Who is running Baron now?
Why is there so little info on Ilmor powered boats? It's like they are a deep dark secret and only owners allowed to know how they work. I've seen pictures of the boats and Instagram videos of the boats idling at the dock, but there are zero performance reviews or first hand reviews of how the Ilmor engine and drive packages work.Apparently the 24 v bottom isn’t dead, 2 are sold already from what I’ve heard.
The deck boat is about the same cost as the other mfgs maybe a little less. What they do have in their favor is if one wanted to get one, it isn’t a years wait to start the boat like some mfgs currently.
You are spot on with Mercury pricing.
I’m hoping to see Ilmor being considered as an option, the LS GM platform is ideal for boats, less weight than a BBC, the power is there and from what I’ve heard the engine block warranty is covered by GM
As a wise man once said, “If the boat doesn’t sell for at least 3x what the drive train cost, you didn’t make any money”
He is Jerry's nephew. Worked at Hallett for many years.Apparently Chris Barron, but no idea how he’s related.
I've been been going down this rabbit hole for weeks now and the lack of information has been bothering me too!Why is there so little info on Ilmor powered boats? It would be great if they were still available in quantity, But I would bet those are for replacement engines. The 8.2 with catalytic converters replaced the 496 quite a few years ago, and I'm sure they would never be acceptable, especially in California. If Barron is trying keep costs down on the 242, would their be customer appeal in using the 496 mag ho? You can get brand new with Mercruiser warranty for low $30's
