Where abouts do you live? I have a friend that is an appliance salesman for a big appliance store. Big time slalom skier.

if you lost the oven one day and the microwave the next, I would be more worried about what caused this. Brown out? Surge? wiring issue. the odds of both that close are very steep.

I will offer this from personal experience. If you're replacing built-ins, as I did, then get online and do your homework, brand by brand, model by model in order to determine which unit(s) will best fit your existing cut-outs. Depending on your cabinets and tops, this can be HUGE.
You can't depend on the sales people to steer you correctly in this regard. I intentionally brought this up recently with a Pacific Sales rep (Where I'd purchased), because I was venting how the idiot designers at Bosch (In my case) continue to change their cut-out dimensions with each model year upgrade. That how they expected us, the customers, to upgrade within their product line when faced with the decision to repair or replace if they don't maintain uniform cut-outs.
At which point I was informed (moronically I might add) by the sales rep that all 30" wide built in ovens (As an example) were all 30" wide by 42" high. When I questioned this incorrect response I was told, "I've been selling appliances for 30 years".
Of course once I nicely started to rip her a new ass-hole (My wife grimacing as usual ), she quickly retreated with "Oh, but yes the cut-out dimensions are all different" --- Yeah, fuck me, that's exactly what I was saying lady.
I don't want to have to pay to rebuild or retro-fit my beautiful cabinets or thick granite tops every few years faced with the reality that new appliances no longer last 30 years as did my parents, but maybe 10 if you're really lucky (Or far fewer as I discovered).
In my case, within four years I replaced (Under extended warranty) my brand new Bosch 800 series combo oven due to an irreparable microwave and the dimension changes required a 2" filler plate added on the bottom. The microwave in the brand new replaced unit just suffered a LED display failure, which was repaired under the extended warranty (after I showed the repair technician how to replace it --- he was a bit confused ). Personally, I wouldn't buy a new appliance without an extended warranty --- however, dealing with these companies makes overruling the BLM seem like child's play  The first thing the tech asked me when he recently showed up was "Do you have a screwdriver I can borrow" --- Yeah, I knew right then this was going to be a really fun afternoon. :(
Sorry for the long read --- but do your own homework before you hit the stores !!!! All the appliance manufacturers provide installation drawings on their websites --- read em and save yourself a shit load of cabinet retrofit $$$$, well, maybe if you're lucky ;)

Very good advice here. ^^^
On my last house during the remodel I needed to saw 2" off the front of our brand new oven cabinet cause the built in was higher than the previous cutout.
My wife was pretty concerned when I broke out the masking tape and a jig saw.

In our case, with the new replacement unit being 2" shorter I had two choices. Try to add a new wood filler or one made by Micro-trim (Which I'd used in a different house with good results). The problem with wood would be trying to match our custom tinted stain, not at all easily accomplished. The filler plate mounted on top would have looked like shit, so bottom it was. But alas, Bosch also changed the door from side swing to bottom swing, now the microwave is a bit higher than my short wife finds easy to use. OH well, life is often about compromises, lol :p

But, no real matter, since she loves the cheap-ass Panasonic counter microwave I bought for $ 99 (Versus the $ 1600 Bosch if bought separately) when the first Bosch failed. I bet that under $100 Panasonic lasts for 20 years, go figure LOL :D
I was hoping that the Bosch not being used would prolong it's life span --- wrong, the LED displayed failed regardless

Damn, that sucks. They look so good too. We really liked the gas range.

We came very close to taking a chance on Thermador.
But there are no places that service them in Havasu so we decided not to. Glad we didn't.

Thermador is Bosch's higher end line, although some are the same and rebadged. The microwave units are the same Bosch ones, again, rebadged.
I'm not at all happy with our Bosch cooking appliances (Specifically the Micro-waves and Induction Cooktop), but the dishwasher has been bullet proof -- go figure.
However, several of my neighbors who rebuilt after the fire same as us, went with Kitchen Aide and after I noticed repair trucks visiting them, they shared their own similar tales of woe.
So honestly, if I decided to replace my junk tomorrow, I haven't a clue who I'd go with

Doh ...I hope our Kitchen aid stuff fairs a little better. If not, at least we bought locally and can get them serviced.

Brand new kitchen aid stainless dishwasher burned up a few months ago. They fixed under warranty but the entire panel melted and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it now. I removed the panel and noticed the hot and neutral were fused together. Started near the main connection after the whip. Tripped the GFI but could have been bad.

A friend works at Pacific Sales in Escondido. Do your due diligence on what you specifically want, online pricing you can find, etc., etc. then he can match/beat it. Hell, he even blew away prices by a mile on bathroom sinks I wanted. All ordered/paid in Cali and delivered in Havi.

Crap. We got the model with the dynamic wash arms and the 3rd rack for utensils.

I replaced a 10 year old $300 Amana dishwasher with a $1000 Bosch unit last year. The Bosch for whatever reason stinks up the house if you have to leave dirty dishes in it more than 1 day, and doesn't clean near as well as the old Amana did. I won't be buying Bosch again.

I hope you have great luck as well, I've been eyeing Kitchenaide, but again, the cut-out problem.
You'd think as a marketing tool, these high-end manufacturers, knowing most all their products are built-in or drop-in, would see an advantage to a more universal fitment. If I wasn't happy with Brand-X, I could easily move on to Brand-Y without spending a bunch on a carpenter, granite fabricator and re-finishing -- but nope. Then I really knew I was in trouble when I couldn't even upgrade with the same manufacturer

Well to bad they don't adopt a similar chassis !! Yup, the internals are all Chinese ;) After replacing the board, I checked the old board and sure enough, one burnt resistor and one burnt diode. I'll probably need a microscope to find the part #'s, but if I can I'll just replace those parts and maybe I'll have a working backup.

Google up the model numbers and chances are someone figured out which ones they are.

I replaced the capacitors on my Maytag Refrigerator and Samsung TV.
You should be able to replace those. I just had to buy a solder suction deal to remove the old solder.

I really like Pacific Sales, although I liked their previous Rancho Bernardo store ambiance much more. We've done all our purchases through them and gotten great deals. BUT, my beef isn't with Pacific Sales (Think Best Buy), it's with Warrantech they use (Or did a couple of years ago) for the extended warranties. I've lost track of how many weeks I've spent on the phone haggling with those retards. Then this last go around, Warrantech's customer service gal was awesome, but the company they use for Orange and San Diego counties for the repair was really strange. The owner is a hoot to talk too, I haven't a clue how he remains in business. The tech was extremely pleasant, but I had to teach him how to remove and replace the burned up board and display. His first comment after we pulled out the combo oven was --- "Sorry, wrong board" --- I then proceeded to show him the errors of his ways. But in truth, I thought it was kinda fun working with the kid and got his number should I need an extra hand for any side jobs, LOL.
I have complained to Pacific Sales about Warrantech, but I'm sure it fell on deaf ears.

I had one warrantech claim and it went fine. Repaired ice dispenser that didn't dispense. At least it works 50% of the time instead of 0% now:rolleyes::)

I'll add, there is a local Escondido company, B&B Appliances. Their techs are very good and their trucks well outfitted. I understand that if you purchase from them, they'll also provide installation any extended warranty service. I plan on at least price checking them next time.
I understand that Home Depot and Lowes are huge appliance sellers now, I'd imagine Costco as well, but I haven't a clue what their after sales warranty service is like. According to this extremely unique individual who owns the company doing the repairs for Warrantech (And unique doesn't begin to describe him ) he was ranting and raving about how "The Russians" have moved in and undercut his pricing, so he's rapidly losing customers like Home Depot to them. Oh Great, it's "The Russians" again, lol :p

Great to hear --- I was told they're good with LG since they're more officially LG service trained. In my case this nice young man hadn't to date popped the hatch on a Bosch.
Since I know you're from SD area, did you speak with Scott "Service On Site" ?

If you ask me, they're all junk with built in obsolescence to last five years.;) We had KitchenAids years ago, oven had issues with switches, warmer quitting and finally the $700 display panel went out. Dishwasher never had any problems but the fridge's water dispenser's output slowed to a trickle. Had to wrap copper wire on the defroster coil to lead into the drain system to avoid flooding inside the fridge. At our new place I got all Maytag now that are probably not any better. Two years on, they're all trouble free, knock on wood.;)
Bought a nice KitchenAid BBQ at Home depot, used that only once so far, it's all good.:D

No idea who? The warranty was handled in Havasu by City Maytag and their repair dept.....I wasn't even there when they did it.

Stay away from LG refrigerators. I have been battling with them for 8 months. Entire sealed system of the fridge replaced twice and it's failed again. This is a brand new 30cuft door in door french model. Total junk.
I am waiting for them to decide on fixing it again or buying me out now. The techs working on it state that they are the worst systems on the market and should be illegal that they are getting away with selling them.

Oh OK, Havasu, got it. Well for shit sake run out and buy a new appliance for SD home and get the Warrantech extension. We know it will break and when it does you'll get the unique opportunity to chat with Scott. Yes, I'm being serious, the guy owns Service on Site and if he gets a hint you enjoy BSing, you'll be on the phone for an hour. He's a friggin trip and his lead tech I also spoke with works steady as a stand up comic and Scott is his manager.
So yeah, ya know, I might go with Warrantech again, just for the entertainment value, lol :D
This last deal went quite well, it was my other two previous issues they botched the shit out of.

Best dishwasher we ever had was our Miele. Much better than the Bosch for similar price. Super quiet, cleaned everything we threw at it. Never had a problem with it. But had to leave it in our old house. We'll be buying another one for this house.

Pacific sales was bought out by Best Buy about 6-7 years ago......they have done a reasonable job of maintaining the previous culture but you have got to do your homework and know EXACTLY what you are looking for.

I recommend you check ABT, AJ Madison and Goedeckers for online pricing. You can also get HD and Lowes to match prices if they carry the part numbers (which you can find on their websites......Good luck!

Agree with Paul above.

AJ madison has great deals and Pacific Sales will match their prices.

I remodled my grandmothers kitchen a few years ago with all Viking products. Really awesome stuff. Highly recommend. My dad just redid his kitchen last year. Sub Zero refrig is unreal, and he went with WOLF everything else. Awesome stuff extremely well made and worth the money.

We just bought a new fridge. Home Depot had the Best price.

But, it was on a heavily marked down sale at the time, and all the other stores were the same price.

Just felt more comfortable using HD. Figured they should be around for awhile.

AJ’s & appliance connection had the best deals on GE profile with Blue Star range I could find. I got them to discount the GE stuff since the the blue star range is msrp.

Free ship & no tax.

Pacific Sales couldn’t touch their AJ’s & Ac prices.

I spent about 16k in appliances and saved over 5k all together compared to local AZ & CA.

Curious, when you purchase from online, do they have a local installer or is it installed when delivered ? What I mean by install is more heavy lifting and getting it slid into place sorta thing.

I did a full remodel myself so they were delivered and dropped off in the house. With the money you save you can hire a guy to install if you have to. I’m sure you’ll end up way ahead.
