If they don't have a burn permit, which they obviously don't, then anything other than a cooking fire is classified as an illegal burn.

Fire department can absolutely have Huntington Beach PD come out and give them access to the backyard to see what they are burning. Fire can then issue the ticket, starting the paper trail.
But didnt ! Not interested in helping out i guess !

Call the news for an illegal fire burn

get it documented live stream it to the net!

go Down in person to the fire dept operations with Your documentation

also it’s nice to know that you don’t have to answer the door and then all the problems go away…..

the fire dept should have looked into the back yard! Or sent a drone up to look to make sure it’s a non issue

Yeah, since when does the fire department NOT have the authority to enter a property when there is an active fire going on?

They for sure do, unless it appears to only be a backyard controlled fire ( think fire pit). I'm guessing they are understaffed and do not have the resources to go all in on this one.

I would be on the phone with the Police Chief and the Fire Chief and the City Manager. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

So I have the neighbor that backs up against me is burning trash on a daily basis. This evenings haul is a chopped up piece of Furniture, Formica, with the fake wood laminate. Needless to say, it is extremely toxic smelling and infiltrating the whole neighborhood. I usually don't make a big deal about things, but I have a baby, and this shit cant be healthy. And they arent using this for recreational like the rest of us that enjoy a good firepit. Its always unattended.

Background. I live in Huntington Beach. This offending house is multi generational, 20 people probably live in it, with a Cholo son that try's to be the spokesperson. I have tried to go over and explain that I am on the downwind side and this is affecting us. They refuse to open door. I left a note. No response.

Tonight I finally had it, called the non emergency line for PD, they said its a fire thing. Called non emergency fire, they were happy to roll a crew over and check on the fire. Needless to say, these clowns didn't open for fire dept to chat with them either. Why does that not surprise me? So Fire dept said obviously cant make entry unless active structure. I totally understand. And that's that.

So now I sit here typing with my throat on fire, lungs burning.

Am I just hosed? No pun intended! What would the inmates do besides ramming shopping carts into their house!
Chris
Next time you call you should definitely say there are sparks and flying embers that are going into other properties. That might spur then to get on it.

. . . or call Hb Building Department and tell them there's a bunch of construction going on over there, and you know they haven't pulled any permits !
An inspector will be there before you even end the call !!!

I had a legal burn pile for 14 years on my 4 acres in Shasta County.
ONE TIME I threw some 12x12 sills in there that were very old, but the creosote was still present.
Black smoke. Every agency with a county code showed up in 15 minutes or less. Fire trucks and sheriffs were the least of it. I somehow begged them out of massive fines. But had to use the front end loader and put it all out while half a dozen guys all monitored the air quality.
I find it almost impossible to believe that city air quality people would not shut this down within minutes.
Bypass the FD, go straight to the suits. They live for this shit.
FaceTime your baby coughing and watch what happens.

My dad had the same problem in Garden Grove. Fucking two fat liberal lesbian hogs live behind him. They would set fires every night. Burn anything they could find. City wouldn’t do shit. So my dad called 911 for fire because ashes flying everywhere. They responded, no answer at the door and broke down there gate to put out the fire. Haven’t had fires since. The fire department told my dad that ashes flying into the air is a key response. Other wise they won’t respond. You have both ashes and chemical fire. Good luck

I had a neighbor doing that periodically. God knows what he was burning, but it smelled toxic. You had to close up the house.

I talk to him a couple times, but he insisted it wasn't him. Everyone else around has small kids, so I doubt it was anyone else. There are only 2 possible houses, and the one right next to me, often weren't home when it happened.

I never found a solutions for the couple years it happened, but he died of Covid, and I haven't smelt it once in the over a year since he passed.

I have bonfires in my backyard all the time. Is that frowned upon.

I mostly use the fire to BBQ on a misplaced shopping cart. I typically burn left over IV bags and glow sticks.

I'm in HB too . . . there's no way in hell that's legal.
PD & FD are just being lazy fucks.
Pisses me the fuck off, . . .fuckin FD sittin on their asses in recliners back at the station making $200K a year workin 10 days a month.
.
Sounds like you picked the wrong profession….

In all seriousness, I agree they’re being lazy. We hop fences (dog dependent) all the time to put out illegal burns. We get to deal with these constantly in Fontana, Muscoy, and SB. Often, lights, air horn and growler gets their attention enough that they put it out. If it’s persistent or they’re assholes, they get to meet our investigators and get a citation.

I would go speak with the cholo son. Maybe bring him a 12 pack of Modelo as a peace offering. Lol

I grew up with Mezzzicans. MOST of them don’t want any trouble and are cool with you if you’re cool with them. Not sure if it’s too late though is my only concern.

I talked to HB code enforcement when my neighbor was burning his job site trash in his backyard. They threatened to yank his business license for illegal burning. Same problem as you, burning things that created toxic fumes and it’s like 80* outside I have to shut all my windows because he’s deciding to burn pressure treated lumber.

You did it wrong. Don’t call the fire department to his house. Call them to your house and invite them into your backyard.

Let them see the scenario from that angle.
The problem with calling the fire dept is they‘ll probably send you a bill if they’re dispatched. My neighbor had health issue last October, his wife calls 911, the fire dept located 2 streets over shows up, finds him semi-coherent, waits 10 mins for the private ambulance service to arrive, they help load him on stretcher then head back to station. Neighbor said it was first time they‘ve ever called 911. Their insurance covered ambulance and hospital bills, but he received a bill from South Placer Fire for $1700 and some change For 4 FF x 30mins. I always thought our taxes plus the supplemental FD Tax would cover something like that. At least they were courteous enough to run lights without sirens to not wake the neighborhood.

Oh I agree…. I was a ‘reserve /wanna-be’ …. But the night a crusty ‘ Senior Hose’ told Me … ‘We only hire professional test-takers now & most of them don’t know the difference between a flat-head & a Phillips’ … I knew I was in the ‘wrong-zone’ …. I could go on about friends who’ve ‘retired’ & get ‘re-hire’d’ & are now essentially ‘triple-dippin’…. But I’ll keep my Yap Shut.

Do you have a tree in your back yard? Light it on fire and blame the neighbors fire.

Disclaimer, this is a joke 😁 This message will self destruct in 24 hours 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Huntington cops are getting soft. We called on our neighbors for noise last night and they said with anonymous calls they’re not knocking on doors.
Well they finally went out and 30 minutes later the noise was just as bad. Fuck this place and those that don’t want to hold people accountable.

Next time he has a big smoking fire going call 911. Tell them you saw him put something wrapped in black plastic bags on the fire that could of been a human body and now it really stinks.

As I remember, every house on our street had incinerators in the back yard in Orange. Hell, they even let people build boats in Orange County back then but this is before pussies invaded Orange County and the big money people started calling the shots. To bad few of you guys remember Orange County as it WAS.
The house my parents bought in 1956 in Orange had an incinerator in the backyard when we moved in, didn’t have trash services, the dump was right at Chapman and Prospect!

I have one of those neighbors too, he runs around like he runs the cul-de-sac. I've been pretty patient with all of their trash. Patience payed off finally, code enforcement hit them twice, and CPS payed a surprise visit a couple Sundays ago, suddenly they were hauling backyard trash to the dump all weekend.

Oh, it's Yorba and Chapman!! I played ball there as a LL'r. Didn't it evolve to a bicycle MotoX park? I have not been to that part of SOCal for a long time. I remember riding my bike to Thifty's for ice cream right up Chapman to Tustin. 5 cents was hard to come by back then, could never get the 10 cent or 15 cent 3 scooper.
