Anyone know how the water levels have been lately? If the weather is decent I thought about launching the boat and going down there from BHC vs driving. I was there for New Years and there was only one day I would have or could have put my boat in without resurfacing the bottom and prop:D

The site that I just looked at only shows 3 days, today, Saturday & Sunday. I always thought that the magic number was 4 units........they are showing 1 unit to 3 units all weekend.

Maybe in a rubber raft...Water has been very low..... I don't think the jet tour to London Bridge is even running... If you know the river very well you might be able to stay in the main channel, but even that would be noonish or later.... I'd say NO for BHC to Needles.....

They are still running the jet, at least we saw them when we were there for New Years. I know that portion of the river very well, but we'll just have to wait and see once we get there. I have boated in March from Laughlin down to Avi with no issues just not sure how the water levels are in Feb.

As far as the boat show is concerned, the subject of water level comes up every year. I don't know if the Needles Chamber of Commerce has any influence but we've never had a problem since show #1.

Jerry, the original question was water depth (flow) in order to boat to Needles from Bullhead City.........

Yes, we've always had enough water in Needles but the question is/was, is there enough water to boat down to Needles?

That's why I stated "as far as the show is concerned", but thanks Carl.

If you don't know the river, don't try boating from Bullhead to needles when the level is questionable. There are some tricky parts.

I have boated that stretch for many years and know when to be on it just not a regular in February

Thanks for the clarification Carl. We all know those trailer queens stay dry..

So where is the best place to stay overnight?
Is there an RV campground or a particular hotel that is the most popular?

Thanks.
Does the RDP crowd tend to congregate in one or the other?
The only RDP crowd that was there last year was me, RD, RogerThat99 and CrumbleCarl :D

The majority of guys that bring boats stay at the campground

Me & Pop stayed at the Palms River Resort last year, also staying there this year. We had Pop's motorhome and his pickup with the Sanger in tow, the space we had was , like all of them, had PLENTY of parking space for both. It's right on the river, SUPER nice launch ramp, got a NICE clubhouse, a couple of jacuzzi's, tennis courts, full gym, big screen TV's in the game room. They had a killer breakfast in the club house sunday morning, blueberry/pecan hot cakes :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup, about a 1/s mile up river from town.

Lunatic - Most of the people last year seemed to stay at the Best Western, Days Inn, or Motel 6. Those that camped stayed at the Marina RV park. PTC and I are staying at the River Valley Inn this year because it is closer to the campground. Hopefully it is an OK place. I stayed at Motel 6 last year.

I will make some calls.
I just checked with the Marina RV Park and they don't have spaces large enough for my 5th. wheel. (Yes Sharp Shooter, another thing too big for your liking), so I will see about the River Valley Inn.:thumbsup

WTF are you lol'ing about?
There are roughly 40 people from this site who have put their names on the list of attendees.
I'm simply asking if there is a particular spot that is more popular than another.

I'll be happy to clarify... I've been participating in this type of outing since the classic v-drive club kicked them off in 1996. That's also when I started making videos of these events. Billy B. joined the group in 97 and started hosting his V-Drive "vacations" at Needles Marina Park once and eventually twice a year.

For years, Billy wanted to get the city involved and have a formal "show". It took years, but eventually things came together.

I attended every regatta, v-drive boat show, and almost every race from 97- 2007 only missing a few. in 2008 we had our first kid and the economy dipped so I stopped shooting most races but continued to attend and either video or "go boating" (sometimes both) at most of Billys outings and the Irvine lake regattas.

That being said, I can say I personally know a good majority of the people at any of these events.

Most members of rdp traditionally aren't big fans of true "hot Rod" boats. They often complain that low freeboard boats are too small, uncomfortable and sink easy. If you want to see a "Crowd" of RDP members go to Desert Storm.

Have you ever attended the L.A. boat show? Do you remember the lower level of the show that housed all the cool engine vendors and high horsepower flatty's (and to me) the best stuff of the boat show? There was a thread at Haut Boat years ago where one RDP member labelled that lower level room as the dungeon or basement for the low lifes of the performance boating world. It's those same low lifes that displayed in and enjoy the L.A. boat show dungeon that attend this type of show in Needles. Ironically, the RDP member I speak of says he's going to Needles with his bitchen new Spectra. lol

RDP "crowd" at a Needles show? I've never seen it (and I've been to all of them), but I welcome it. It's my objective to break the negative sterotypes attached to owning these types of boats and promotion from guys like TBI and Campell Carl on this site can't hurt. :thumbsup

Mr. Fringe, I suggest you take a ride in one of these boats if by chance you've never had one or rode in one. They're a lot of fun!!!:thumbsup

And for the record, internet sign up sheets don't mean shit.

Sharp Shooter, I appreciate your clarification on the lol. I guess in my social paranoia I assumed you were lol'ing me asking the question.:D
Personally, a cool boat is a cool boat whether it is a type I would own or not.

To some of your comments though;
I disagree that "most" RDP members are not fans of hot rod boats. Most only own one boat and that craft needs to perform many jobs as well as possible, skiing, hauling kids coolers etc... That being the case they purchase, use and are more familiar with lake boats. Has nothing to do with appreciating a bad ass boat of any type.

Like you and you v-drive events, I've been in the poker runs since the American Haut Boat/ Arizona Haut Boat days of the spring and fall Heat Waves.

I'm not attending this to see a "crowd of RDP members" as you say, if I can meet some and have a few beers while I admire the boats and cars then great.

I live in Phoenix so I've never attended the LA show.

You're carrying a slight from years ago during the haut boat days? Let it go.
As far as that member now going to the river with a Spectra, tastes change. I don't wear bell bottoms anymore. Embrace his enlightenment.:rolleyes

As for you breaking the negative stereotypes of the flatties, that's a good thing but try to be a positive ambassador without pointing out your percived flaws and foibles of those who have different tastes.
I don't "study" your posts but the tone seems to me to be more of a put down of larger craft rather than a pokerrun388 approach of "Hey that's cool, but look at this". Thus my occasional tease aimed your way.

Yes I've ridden in a couple of the lttle rockets but I REALLY suck as a passenger. If I'm behind the wheel, no problem.

Lastly, internet sign-up sheets may mean shit to you but most of the people who bothered to sign up will try to attend. If I can meet some and buy them a beer then great, if not, there's always Desert Storm.:D

Also Sharp Shooter, I don't own one of these 90mph plus hot rods but my Placecraft gets after it pretty good and i can reach over while seated and touch the water. I understand and appreciate both low and high freeboard boating.:thumbsup

I take an occasional shot at folks with big boats on small lakes or rivers, but usually it's in self defense. :D I'll tone it down, thanks for your valued input. :cool
