Whole thing sucks, even with much less structure loss than what could’ve been. There were still a few structures burnt to the ground on California side, leaving people homeless, add to it, in this heat

Some of my buddies were at Fenders and were under mandatory evacuation. Their trailers and stuff were fine though.

Any updates on the fire?

We did a full drive of the AZ areas on Dike, Reservation Rd, Evans, just a bit ago, smoldering in a dozen or so spots, flare up south Dike area about 4 hours ago but did not last longer than 15 minutes, the hay bails are still burning off of Reservation road, they are going to let it burn out possibly 2-3 days. FD on scene right by there.

I did not see or hear of any damage to any homes, barns or garages on Dike. The only structure we saw or heard that burned down was an abandoned trailer that we call the crack house on south dike and everyone was glad that went bye bye...

Thank goodness nothing was destroyed. This looting thing I’m not buying. It’s not like Needles is the ATL of Georgia. Just because a car drives through a neighborhood doesn’t necessarily mean they’re looking to steal your 30” Vizio.
We had a fire here in Costa Mexico today and i hope no locals thought I was gonna loot their house just because of my desire to see the fire.

We keep our trailer at Fenders during the summer and this was not a fun experience. My brother was at the fire at 2:05, we saw it soon after it started, of course called 911 and watched it grow into what it turned in to. We didn't have the truck to move our trailer so we hooked up the boat to the wife's Tahoe, put it on on Needles hwy headed North and waited until they told us we had to leave. Threw the work computers in the car along with some food and clothes, took a video of inside and outside of the trailer, locked the door and prayed for the best. I ended up driving my golf cart up to the Palms with the wife following me with the boat not knowing if we would see our stuff again. It was definitely an awful feeling and have a new understanding for people who's homes are threatened as the thought of simply losing our toy hauler was quite unpleasant. Luckily everything ended up ok, but I was quite nervous trying to sleep last night, especially when the winds shifted due North and our trailer started to smell like a camp fire.

Losing a home in a fire is horrible. My son was selling his place in S CA to head to Texas with me. Two days from close of escrow his house caught on fire in an unfortunate accident by his roomate and it burned to the ground. He came home and saw he had lost everything basically. Its been very difficult on him and we are doing our best to right the ship and will but it will take a long time. He and I are resilient but this has really staggered his life for sure. With support from myself and others he will bounce back. My Mom lost their farm house to a fire when she was a child and the pain stayed with her until she passed at 94 years old. I now understand the trauma the family went thru way back when. It gets etched in your memory for life.

Fire is just terrible to deal with. I am glad all people escaped with no loss of life and very limited property damage it seems.

No, we are downriver a bit from where the fire jumped to AZ side. It was burning near our boat storage though! Wind blew it away from the storage thankfully.
It did get real close to River Toys storage but no issue that I heard of

My FIL keeps his boat there, he's going to call today and verify no smoke issues in the building that need to be addressed.

We're up in Willow Valley and headed south for the day. We were on our way back up to go home and the Sherrif's closed the river at the Needles bridge and told us we had to wait. Grabbed a spot on the beach with several other boats until they told us we were clear to go. Glad everyone was safe.

It was only about 45 minutes. I believe it was due to the helicopter being in use. They mentioned that they might shut it down again after that, but we weren't going to wait around to find out. The fire had reached the riverbank on the CA side when we went through and was also burning pretty good on the AZ side.

2 places lost, 1 house and property was the junk yard next to the 40 where the tire started the fire, the 2nd was a abandoned structure with nothing around it but brush south of Courtright down Dike road that needed to be demolished years ago and thankfully we were all happy that this one burnt down to the ground.
