In reading the thread on the fridge I noticed there were a few brands to stay away from. Is this the same for dishwashers? Bosch the go to?

Thanks,

SHEP

My parents have a GE profile 46 db jobber and love it. I just bought a Maytag myself, their best one, stainless tub 45 db, hard food disposer, all that crap. I have been very pleased with it thus far, cannot of course speak to longevity, but 10 year warranty on a good chunk of the parts so I am hoping for the best. List on it was 799 I believe and I caught a sale and made HD price match it with free delivery for $459 or somewhere in that ballpark. I can't hear the damn thing running at all and I don't have to prewash crap with caked on food, seems to handle it well so I am happy.

I agree, LG is shit and their support sucks!

I think GE is good.

Another vote for Bosch. Sometimes when mines running, you almost don't hear it. Only indication it is
working is the LED indicator light that shines on the floor.

Friends of mine have a Bosch. We were in their kitchen, and couldn't even tell it was running.

Our next one will be a Bosch.

Have Kitchenaid, same age as my fridge [ 10yrs ] hope it doesn't start having issues like the fridge did after ten years.:skull It's as quiet as my buddy's Miele and works great .
Just got my new washer and dryer [ LG ] this morning from Sears, sent the old Admiral set on its way to the dump, it worked for 28 years without major problems. Hope we'll get at least a few years out of the new ones without problems, hehe.

I just bought a nice GE from Home Depot online. They delivered it, set it up and hauled the old one away. I think the total was just under 600.00 bucks. Couldn't be happier.,

You guys are very lucky that you have a good one, IMO BIGGEST pieces of shit.

My Jen-Air has been solid, The Frigidaire has been just OK. My LG Front Load W & D have been great, wonder what the issues are with the DW's?

Bosch vote for me. Have had it for 5 years with no issues. Real quiet. Were the kind of people that Pre wash before we put dishes in there. Never one loaded with food chunks.

We've had our Bosch for four years now zero issues. In fact I have other products with the name Bosch on it all with zero issues as well. I guess you can say they all around they make quality products...

We have a Bosch... Very quiet. It's seven years old and starting to fall apart. I've had to take it apart and clean all the soap scum and hard water. Overall very happy with it.

I looked into them for q bit and got a bosch. From what I understand non of the use the heating coil deal, it really does not seem to matter though. Honestly on the higher end of the under $1000 stuff I think the main thing is to make sure you like how everything loads in the racks. The $500-1000 all seemed really quiet. I think our bosch was around $700, works pretty good no real complaints.

If you have money and want the very best period. Miele. Nothing can touch this brand.

IF you want to spend some money and want a great machine Bosch.

Take a look at the third rack units, they copied this from Miele after their 15 year patent ran out.

Run some Lemi shine through it - problem solved.

Had a Bosch for about 6 years.....it SUCKED!!!! While I will agree that they are very quiet, I'll argue that it was because they would hardly clean a dish.

Interesting never seen a bosch that had the build quality of any miele.

The only complaint I have about Miele is the price.

Well my first mile vacuum was a money pit, but aside for that my DW is 12 years old, my laundry units are 10, and my ovens are 12.

Rock solid and frighteningly expensive.

Glad you've had good luck with Miele, but your one of the very few. We took them
Out of our option catalog, as they were impossible to keep working.

Asko's and Bosch are both nice. We install the Asko's as our standard for our homes, as well I have one in my own house. We install the Bosch as an option, but don't seem to get many requests for them, even though they seem to be as reliable as the Asko.

Which ones did you own?

I would think after being in business since 1899 they would know how to build a product but Im curious to hear peoples negative experiences with them.

I noticed that Miele basically restricts their channel quite a bit where many others are extremely easy to buy and resell.
Being able to get the product to begin has a to to do with what people in the trades make available in their catalogs and push.

The appliance, laundry forums, repair forums, out there all basically rank Miele as the top brand money no object.

There is always a guy somewhere that didn't like his just like somewhere somebody had a an ecoboost blow up, or a bad cummins.

My advice to the poster is go to to the places where guys passionate about these things go- not just a forum of boating dudes.

one place to go is here.

http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-INDEX_DISPLAY.cgi?DLX
gardenweb is another.

Regardless of what you buy go learn a bit more so when you do buy you know exactly what you are getting.

Don't remember the specifics on the complaints, if I remember correctly corrosion problems. Not as bad as Fisher and Pakel though.:D

Hmm corrosion what isn't plastic is SS at least in mine.

most guys aren't real clear the differences between the US stuff and the Euro stuff in general and when switching dont get lots of things

To date the sum total on all that shit has been one repair. I lost a cold water solenoid at year 8 due to hard water build up on the clothes washing machine.

3rd party repair guy showed up next day with the part and was gone in under an hour.
Said the good shit is easy to fix, the stuff coming out of Korea- throw that shit away at sign of first problem.

The early fisher paykels were a nightmare. I put a gen 1 dish drawer system in the office kitchen. We did a lot of hand washing the next couple of years.

That said the latest gen 3 dish drawer seem like they have it down,

...and Im getting old and tired and the thought of not having to bend over to pull shit out of the washer is getting more appealing.

but the first taste of that product was soo bitter....
