I have had a tough go with printers in the last few years, I have primarily used color printers from HP and Epson. Seems like every time I go to use the printer the ink is dry and I have to spend $60 on Ink cartridges. Also connecting printers have always been a hassle. Is there a rock solid printer that is easy to use and easy to connect to my Mac, I don't need color. Laser jet? Ink jet? I'm a little confused. I just want something that's gonna work reliably every time I need it and not have to buy ink every time I use it? .. Thanks... DL

I've been using Brother lately and have had Real good luck with them. Their multi function units work great.

Get a network printer (that hooks up to your wifi) and then everyone can print to it easily.

Go Lazer. Good article about the differences...

I've got a HP all in one laser and its been bullet proof. Wifi networked so you can print from anything anywhere.....

Not terribly expensive if memory serves. I think we got it at Costco.

Brother, they work well and last. HP used to make great printers, but the market changed to cheap printers, expensive consumables.

^^^this^^^

I have a few for my shop. And another at home. All have been solid and were easy to install and network. I can print straight from my iphone or ipad if I so desire with the wifi network printers.

I think I have a Cannon Laser Jet. Don’t get an ink jet for business, you’ll be buying ink constantly.

Call my neighbor up, he works for a company called "The Printer Coppier Guys" he's flying back in on the 10th from his vacation.

My input is that I wish I had bought a Laser, I've been using Epson for a long time, but man, this new one seems hungrier than ever for ink.

My next printer will be a Laser for sure.

Laser. Inkjets are not ideal for inconsistent use. Some color lasers can also do decent color printing (never going to be full photo quality).

If you pick a laser, try to look for models with a decently large page count out of the toner cartridge or you will feel like you are buying ink all over again. HP has their X cartridge that will last for a whole box of paper but to get that might be out of their SOHO or SMB lines.

Also be aware that the toner cart in the printer when bought is typically half full so don’t use that as a gauge on how much printing you get out of the “starter cart”.

i used brother printers in my previous career. they were cheap and robust and easy to setup on a network. the only failures i had were human related damage. i had a couple that had printed over 75k pages and still had tons of life left in the non replaceable parts.

this was my last goto at last employer https://www.brother-usa.com/products/hll5100dn
Can this print from your PC utilizing WIFI?

The new Epson w/ecotank have been good. We have 2. Ink seems reasonable so far. I focking hate ink jet ones with the cartridges.
