There have been two unconfirmed reports (and I stress unconfirmed reports) from earlier this morning that Fish and Wildlife is in the process of placing new no-wake buoys at the mouth of the river (Arizona side) where lake and river converge. If there are any RDPers out on the water and in that general vicinity please observe and report back if new buoys have been placed. If correct, please take a few cell phone shots and post. Thanks.

Just went out and looked from my house with binoculars and I can't see anything for sure. A couple boats around there and one hauling ass up the no wake side.

Lake Havasu Marine Association work pontoon launched and has just arrived on scene -- no new buoys observed. This was originally a tip phoned into the local newspaper earlier this AM -- apparently nothing to it.

Still out recovering from back surgery but I think you must be referring to the "Speed Alley" buoys which have bee in place since Memorial Weekend 2015. They drift a bit and our maintenance folks must reset the lines periodically. Granted I've been out of the office for two weeks, but I'm as confident as I can be without being onsite and actually looking that my agency has not added any new buoys.

Based on all the nonsense in prior months and the decision to put the CD "on hold", I was under the impression that even these buoys were placed without due process and without agreement from all governing agencies....

Government agencies overstepping their authority and unilaterally restricting the use of public resources is just plain irritating at best

a side note to this thread...
I was looking for the big trash bags at the marina last weekend...
Was told by the marina that Lake Havasu Marine Association has stopped providing them...
Argggg... one good thing this group has done and now they stop????

If the marina is out of bags, they need to let the Marine Association know. Trash bags are still being provided at about 70 different beach locations around the lake. Unfortunately vandalism is still a constant problem. The Association goes through about 150,000+ bags per year.

Hmmmm...
strange
I went into the store, asked if they were out of bags, and was told "they don't supply them anymore". the lady then handed me a sheet of paper from a stack with the LHMA phone numbers and contact info and she said "call them and see why they stopped doing this"

only in havasu....

The bags are awesome, and much appreciated by myself and my friends thru the years! (Except dont forget to turn them inside out:)heheh

I always wondered though if people steal them and use em at home. Pisses me off when assholes might ruin a good thing.

Was told the same thing at Windsor, no more bags given....

Oh well. I will still pick up trash left behind by hooligans. :)

A little clarification on trash bags -- the Marina does not have trash bags because THEY requested they did not want to participate in the trash bag program from the Marine Association any longer. If the Marina wishes to again offer free bags to boaters, all they need to do is contact the Lake Havasu Marine Association and ask that bags be delivered. As for Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor, they have bags, in fact a very large inventory of bags on site. They are not out of bags.

Can't you guys in Havasu afford trash bags without asking the government to do it for you[emoji1]?
Next you'll be asking for free tows from vessel assist to get from the channel to the ramp.✌️

And I guess we were not completely crazy afterall. According to a very brief article in the Todays News Herald, Fish and Wildlife admitted that an "overzealous maintenance worker placed a few new buoys to fill in a gap area" -- whatever a gap area is. However the article continued to say that the buoys were then removed by the Service within 24 hours. Not sure what was going on but glad the newspaper called the Service to get some clarification.

SRice. I understand you are out on a back injury and appreciate you taking the time to post this. I just have to ask though, WTF is going on with your agency? "An overzealous maintenance worker"? I would think that with the current political climate of F&W that you guys would be extremely cautious placing ANY buoys in the water right now. What is it going to take for your people to get their shit together?

In no way is this directed at you personally. You gotta admit though, enough is enough. Tighten it up! [emoji3] [emoji106]

Govt speak is overzealous. Civilian speak is Rouge, or directed to do something and then plead ignorance/overzealous.

The real question is whether or not that's a real quote from someone in the agency. I trust news reporters about as much as I would a pedophile adverstising a baby sitting service;)

Don't give two craps about the quote. I'm more concerned about the Herald saying the buoys were placed then removed within 24 hours. That is the issue. If it did happen, then F&W needs to pull their heads out pretty quickly. Sounds to me like F&W admitted to it and then decided to throw an employee under the bus. Cheap shot.

Regardless of where you pick up one of the TRASH BAGS .......make damn sure you TURN THEM INSIDE OUT unless you like blue screenprint ink on your interiors.
This was an RDP public service announcement [emoji111] [emoji111]

It sounds that way because you believe what the reporter wrote. If you don't give two craps about the quote or if it's legit or not then hang on... I just found another article that said it was a rouge kayaker trying to take more space. I can't quote the source of course because... well you know... but that doesn't matter to you anyways right?;)

What part of when I wrote "If it did happen" do you not understand? That is also why I was attempting to go directly to the source... an actual employee that can give some facts. Lighten up, Francis. [emoji3]
