All my previous campers / ToyHaulers have been purchased used private party purchases.
Wife is done with the time it takes to setup and pickup desert camp with the ToyHauler. Plus she wants the ability to leave the Islander for a couple weeks each August (easier with a RV vs ToyHauler). So that said, we looking to jump into an RV and cant find what meets the family requirements.

4 key family requirements 1) 38’ of shorter, 2) split bath (bathroom sink, separate from shower/shitter), 3) cab over bunk and 4) Super C.
Wife has test driven a DP and SuperC and feels safer driving a super C vs a DP. These requirements are limiting used units. Found a few and folks want a premium. Most are listed higher than the new prices I have gotten.

All that said, I found a new 2024 Renegade Valencia 36SB that checks all the boxes.
Yes it is the 2024 S2RV chassis vs the M2, but I only tow 7500lbs (if that) and when doing trips it is never about finishing first. Moving into the M2 chassis is another 45k and while I want that, I need to think budget, since I will be financing a portion. Yes, I plan to refinance when rates drop via a personal loan.

So my question is.
What is the target % off of MSRP?

Current situation.
Renegade MSRP via build sheet is 338k.
Dealer #1 is at 265k.
Dealer #2 is at 256, but they don't take trades.
Dealer #3 is at 249, but will only trade truck and not my ToyHauler.

so what is the real life examples RDP folks have seen.

I paid 40% off of MSRP when I bought our Voltage TH in late 2020, and their web site is advertising around the same savings for new Voltages as of tonight. They are a volume dealer though, so I wouldn't expect deals quite that good at most other places.

I'd shoot for 30% off, and probably do 25% If you really want that unit.

I always used 35% off of MSRP where I at least want to be.

Thats about what I was discounted off my current 5th wheel. I stood firm in my offer and they tried coming down a bit at a time

My research on 5th wheels and ToyHaulers hits at 35-40% off of MSRP.
just wondering if RV’s have a different target.

hope the Tx property / home search is going well

Found something that works for me in Tx.

I bought a new class A with the same 35% mentality. That one I think I got almost 40% off but thats been a while

If it’s a popular model and they are gonna turn it quick, you’re gonna pay a premium. If it’s something they are sitting on and flooring costs are creeping you can make some good deals. The RV market has softened up a bit over the last year, the inventory the dealers are picking up is based on shit they think they can still move. Look at the way they have the inventory parked on the lots, you’ll notice that they are a bit more spread out and diagnol vs. stuffed in tight. When you see them end to end trying to fill up space that is a sign 😉

Do fuel costs or diesel fear make any impact on rv sales in California? I've heard of people wanting gas over diesel, and vice versa, but curious if it makes a difference on sales.

What’s the draw to a super C? I’ve never driven one, but I have driven a few DP’s long distance and they are so easy to drive and you don’t feel cramped like driving in a truck cab all day. I would test drive a super C in cross winds and see how it handles.

They also have so much more room inside when set up compared to a super c.

My wife liked the feeling of control she had driving the Super.
She test drove both and felt safer in the C.
Family friends wives have started the same. Not sure WTF it is, but all 3 family’s with a C, the wives prefer that over a DP, when driving.

I think his wife likes the feeling of the hood out front. I will admit, I feel more comfortable behind the wheel of a super C, but it's because I've put lots of miles on M2's. To me, it feels more natural than sitting ahead of axle centerline.

My search has been limited to NM, AZ, CA, OR, and WA.
With 2025 starting to hit the lot, 24’s are limited.

I get it. It’s a truck like feeling and less “scary”. Does your wife drive the truck and trailer now? What is the likelihood that she “will” drive the super c?

All wives will suck the air out the motorhome sitting passenger , especially through Louisiana.

Found the same one tonight. Will be calling them tomorrow to see what the real price is.
Spent an hour on the phone with SportsTruck Fontana. Very helpful on who to call
They seem to have a decent inventory. They also carry Newmar which are pretty nice.

Some logistics involved, but if you buy something in MO, for a small fee I could be persuaded to go visit @lakepal for a few days then drive this back west. Could visit my PHX office on the way…. Just sayin 😁

Start at 40% back of MSRP. I would also consider east coast options. The savings may outweigh the cost of transport.

As other have said A least 35% and then sell the toy hauler to givemethevin.com. I sold my 5th wheel to them a few years ago in FL. They senate a truck to pick it up. I sold them my truck yesterday. Checks cashed and my bank didn‘t put a hold on tape checks.

So on that used renegade at $220k you still approach it at the 35-40% off starting point? I feel like I’d be laughed out the lot

I'd have to have stupid money to buy a new RV. They depreciate so much that you are going to lose a ton of money on them. On the other hand, if I did had stupid money I would buy a new one. :) I'd love to have a smaller C and take it to UJoint Off Road for a 4x4 conversion.

Don't be afraid to search nationwide. I bought a Super C about 20 years ago. I ended up finding one in Michigan. This was a private party. The seller met me at the airport. We went for a ride and I checked all the things I wanted to check. He took me back to the airport and I flew home. That was a long day. I ended up making a deal. He met me in Salt Lake City and I drove it home. My uncle went with me. He had a Monaco class A at the time. He said the Super C drove better.

When I was in land development, one of the investors owned very large RV dealerships in CA. Markup on RV's is pretty standard at 49%. I know for a fact those guys are hurting bad with the high interest rates. I would offer 40% off and walk. You'll find a dealership that will take it right now on a 2024 guaranteed. COVID is over!

Let's hear about this toy hauler trade in!

I went down this path years ago and never found pricing on a new model Renegade/Showhauler to be discounted as generously as other manufacturers however times are clearly different and Renegade has since become part of the REV groups portfolio. Ended up finding a dealer with a three month old Renegade on their lot that was traded in and they were ready to send it to auction. Might be worth asking other Valencia owners in the Renegade Owners Forum.

Beat the shit out of Dealer #1 until you get the deal you want. Selling your old stuff is a pain in the ass, most of your target buyers will need a loan holding up the process.

One of my buddies picked up a pusher in Florida a few years ago, we flew out to Tampa and picked it up, then drove up to Georgia and bought a new enclosed from one of the factory’s there. He sold the trailer when we got back and covered the gas bill for the ride back across the country. We took a week and hit every bbq joint we could find. Nationwide search is your friend.

Everyone I have talked with, has hit apx 25% with Renegade.
Since they still limit production, the discounts are not as big as other manufacturers

Discount on new only.
That guy is high. IMO, he purchased at peak Covid over valued price and wants out.

- 3000w inverter to 3 dedicated outlets (2 inside, 1 outside)
- 20’ awning
- awning lights
- 12v and UBS exterior power outlets.
- additional interior cabinets and helment racks/storage
- additional insulation around bed with paneled walls
- propane gas grill quick adapter
- etc.

Long after that new renegade is an old clapped out motorhome, that santek will be exactly the same quality trailer. I’ve had Victor build me two trailers now, just sold one to my buddy after 20 years of ownership, shows as new still. Just keep them waxed.

YEP - 4 times a year it gets hit with wax.
Has some fade due to the grey color due to Havasu summers.

I know new RV smell is always nice but this year there are going to be Fire Sales in California for Pre-smog Diesels that CA wont renew the Registration on without paying yearly non-smoggable fees or dumping tons of money swapping motors to be able to pass smog. There are alot of monster Diesel pushers out there that will be deeply discounted. I still dont understand how charging higher fees or paying carbon tax changes the air quality.

larger DP‘s are leaving CA and being moved to other lots based on my conversations this week.
Most people with larger DP’s know how to avoid that CA smog tax.

I think the issue here is the number of units that are being produced. The mass produced ones absolutely should and do have deep discounts. Renegade or Dynamax M2s only produce a certain number of each model each year so if it’s a popular model you’re not going to get the same discount. That’s the issue with wanting something specific. The coach I ended up buying they only made that for plan for two years, and I wanted it with a specific set of options that was not popular had to fly to Missouri to get it.

Just my .02 but as stated already all Rv’s are a huge loss off the lot but that is not why we buy them. Always remember this if it floats,flys, or F@cks it is always cheaper to rent it. Now l have always liked selling things on my own then using cash offers for toys. The super C is a great choice, Renegade or 1492 coachworks are great choices. I would put together the offer I am comfortable with and Email it with the unit vin to the dealer and let them sit on it and decide if they want to make the deal. But my focus would be doing the same with used units. Additionally if you contact these builder they may know a client who would be willing to sell to you so they can get the newest model.

Sell your current setup don't trade it in. . You should be 35 plus off sticker, any less look to buy from Midwest US and have it shipped.
Pay someone out there to do the PDI.
You'll be surprised at the amount you can save.
