Youve been compromised and this is an attempt to mask legitimate emails that are coming in for fraudulent orders, more attempted hacks etc. You need to find out what account got hit.

Change all of your passwords Immediately and turn on MFA on EVERYTHING.

Down the road get rid of Yahoo mail.

Check you email here to see what passwords have been data leaked: https://haveibeenpwned.com/

My wifes Bank (BofA) was tied into her Yahoo email and was constantly involved in fraud/charges and such, it had become so bad, she closed the account and went to a new bank and it's been good since. yahoo is a driver of these type of scams/spam

My wife's email does that from time to time. They are all real, but it dumps everything off the server she had had for a year onto her phone.

That might not be your deal though

What @gqchris said.

Hackers might use an email flooding technique as a way to overwhelm a target and obscure a critical email that signals an account compromise. Here’s how they could execute such a strategy:
  1. Preparation and Reconnaissance: The hackers first gather information about the target—such as their email address, typical communication patterns, and associated accounts. This could involve phishing, social engineering, or scraping public data.
  2. Email Flood Setup: To create the flood, hackers could use automated tools or botnets to generate and send a massive volume of emails to the target’s inbox. These emails might appear as spam (e.g., fake promotions, newsletters) or even mimic legitimate correspondence (e.g., replies to old threads, system notifications). The goal is to bury the inbox with noise.
  3. Crafting the Compromise Email: Amid this deluge, they send the key email indicating an account compromise. This could be a subtle notification—like a “password reset confirmation,” “new device login alert,” or “account verification request”—designed to blend in with the flood. It might spoof a legitimate service (e.g., Gmail, PayPal) and include a malicious link or instructions that, if followed, give the hacker further access.
  4. Timing and Volume: The flood is timed to overwhelm the target’s attention. For example, sending hundreds or thousands of emails within a short window (e.g., an hour) makes it less likely the target will notice or scrutinize the compromise email. If the inbox has filtering, the hackers might vary sender addresses, subjects, or content to bypass spam filters and keep the volume high.
  5. Exploiting Distraction: The target, busy deleting or sorting through the flood, might overlook the compromise email or assume it’s part of the noise. If it’s a login alert they don’t act on, or a reset link they accidentally click, the hacker gains the upper hand without raising immediate suspicion.
  6. Post-Flood Cover: After the compromise, the flood might taper off naturally or shift focus (e.g., to a different type of spam), leaving the target thinking it was just a random annoyance rather than a coordinated attack.
This technique leverages human psychology—overwhelm and fatigue—alongside technical manipulation. It’s not about hiding the email from detection systems (which might flag it anyway) but from the user’s attention, increasing the odds they miss or mishandle the critical message. Hackers could refine this further by studying the target’s habits, like flooding during a busy workday or after a vacation when the inbox is already chaotic.

I swear on my mother’s grave if I ever find this person I will kill them very slowly in front of whoever they care about. Or cares about them.

The people doing this are even with child molesters. Fuck them I hope you fucking die!!!

Update, still getting about 100-150 texts a day. And about 200-250 emails a day now.. still never found the culprit. I have changed all my passwords I can think of.

Likely what I am going to do is remove yahoo email which I have been using for a decade or more and switch all accts to a new email.

Still a pita. What sucks is I am OCD about unread emails texts so my smart watch is all but useless for messaging stuff email and texts
