my dad was a lineman for SCE in ontario calif. he became a troubleman for foothill district. he died on a pole in san bernardino 22 years ago.

my brother also works for SCE at ontario district, is close to making the jump from apprentice lineman to journeyman, then pretty much straight to foreman. he's got 22 years in with edison.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I was working in Ventura 22years ago, but worked alot of storm in SB, I may have known your dad. Glad to hear your brother's about to carry the big ticket.

Sisters step kid is in Puerto rico right now fixing everything there, seen him last weekend in boise and the videos he showed us hanging off a helicopter in the jungle were crazy! On a side note there is a huge lineman college in Kuna id where my sister lives, poor bastards were out there freezing their asses off going to school. Tip of the hat to the lineman on your day!

I have a lot of respect for lineman, my BIL and FIL were both lineman, now retired. My Father in law is still number 1 in seniority with IBEW with 55 years, just turned 89 and still doing pretty well. This is a pic from 1947 in the navy, my FIL is bottom far right, the rebel without the hat.

We had several guys at my place a few weeks ago stringing fiber on the poles. Great guys to chat with.

You don't have to be baddass. Just willing to work and climb a pole. I've known a few "good hands" that you would mistake for a preacher.

Props to the linemen on here...... I was impressed with how fast the guys restored power here, after our ice storm. It was a major mess, but they got the job done.
