Is NASCAR a joke with the format for the playoffs? Larson not being in it for a championship and Logano is. Some of the races have been good, but the run for a championship is a joke. Opinions…

Thought it was a good race, not a Lagano fan and wish Blaney would have got next to him, maybe next year.

I'd prefer they change it up to whomever wins the most races becomes the champion. This current format someone who can't win a race can be champion if they are adequate enough all year but have no wins.

The current format sounds like the brainchild of the participation trophy generation.

Watched the end of the race. Good deal a Ford won. The English guy and the other announcer on helium drives me nuts. I’m sure they are nice people.

FYI..This year the top 12 all had a win except 1 driver. The final 4 all had 3 wins. Larson made it to the final 8 with 6 wins. I agree it shouldn’t come down to the final race.

He's Australian. I've had to put up with Leigh Diffey for years on IndyCar broadcasts. Enjoy the yelling, IndyCar will be on Fox next year with Alan Bestwick, who actually knows how to call races.

Jeff Burton is more annoying than Dale Jr, which I didn't think was possible.

I hate the playoff format. Also the overtime green white checker deal. They seem to desire that one of the slower cars win the race.

Eddie Krawiec won the PS motorcycle championship by 5 points in 2008 without winning a single race all season. He had most of the #1 qualifying spots, went to almost every semi finals and all but a couple of those finals, he just chipped away at points from rounds and qualifying. This was before the countdown in NHRA.

For the record I think the countdown is
200w (7).gif

As fuk

This format is a joke. But when they
Wanted monster to come in they let them have a say in this format. Monster is no longer title sponsor and this format should go.
I don’t care If they went back to the top 10-12 duke it out for final 10 races under old formstn atleast 1 bad race won’t take them out.

I sort of see your point, but you know who really got screwed was when Happy Harvick had 9 wins and didn’t get in, if Larson raced at Charlotte would he have made the final 4?

Haven't watched a single lap since Danica won the pole at Daytona. I realized that shit was fixed and nothing but the worlds fast commercial. They took the racing out of the equation years ago. The new formats punish winners for excelling all season, then give nobody's a chance to win for ratings. Just as bad as the WWE

The argument was all based around stick and ball sports, quarters of play, and a playoff of some form, because that's the exciting format for traditional sports.
Drama for the sake of drama. I still like the trucks and xfinity cars, but that has started getting old. The Gen whatever car they are on they are so proud of is a fragile egg, sadly there is no undoing technology.

Also the complaint of the Coke 600 or Daytona strategy was to ride around and save your stuff for the end and the complaint of a boredom in the middle of races .

The 185 MPH lap speeds at Daytona are an embarrassment. Hell, I turned a couple of laps at Texas Motor Speedway at 168 in a freekin' driving school car that was pushing more than a solar panel salesman.

When Bill Elliot ran 212.8 in the Tbird heads exploded, (Talladega) and that drove the change, whatever they call it today ( Restrictor plate racing) is as dangerous as letting them sort it out, 38/40 cars in a pack running inches apart is asking for death, didn't they just wad up over 20 cars this year? (Talladega 28 cars)

Bill Elliot ran 210 at Daytona that same year (1987)

That car was fast, I think he came from a lap down to lap the field, and win Right?? (no lucky dog BS)

I had some internet help, that was 85. and it was two laps down. Pre plate racing.

You can't say that was not exciting racing.

It's surprising tire technology forty years ago allowed those speeds. It was definitely a different time.

Yeah I had to use the internet for help, I thought the 212 was at Daytona but you were right it was Talladega. Fast as hell for an 87 Tbird with 650hp (more help) the current cars would be insane as they are capable of 1000+hp with a car that makes a tiny hole in the air compared to the cars in 87

No tech, no simulations, they just built a stout tire figuring in a safety margin. look at the tire problems they have today, Guys messing with low starting pressures, and tire angles that cause them to cord or unravel.
