We went the first year. Loudest event I've ever been to. It was fun, but I prefer points events for sure.

It’s kind of like watching people merging on the freeway in circles. Plus the joy of parking around the coliseum. I refuse to go.

I’d rather go to Vegas or Phoenix instead, now that Fontucky is off the schedule.

It looks like a fun event. Yes, parking sucks, and it's a sketchy area (oddly, no pics on the USC recruiting packages 🤣) but the venue itself is historic, and it's great to see them do something like this.

Not a circle guy, but I think the striper is going the wrong way.

No, apparently they are reconfiguring the track into a short track, at least that’s the last I heard.

Makes me wonder if they sold off some of the property for some quality low income housing or something.

But they originally were going to start after last seasons race and they figured this year was a miss due to the changes. But I’m not even sure they’ve started so could be a few years for it to return, if it returns at all.

They did sell off some of the land.

Congrats California for killing off Ontario Motor Speedway (now Ontario Mills), Riverside International Raceway (now Moreno Valley Mall) and finally Fontucky, which sounds like it’s new life is distribution warehouses.

I can’t seem to understand Nascars marketing ploy of putting a tiny track in the coliseum and filling the entertainment with folks that probably don’t know what NASCAR even is. I always liked the clash at Daytona. Maybe it gives the Clash guys more track time but they earned it. That’s why they are in the clash. Daytona is a major part of their market, downtown LA doesn’t seem like it is.

They marketed it early on as a way to attract new fans. There are alot of young people that live and go to school in that area, I think those are the people they are going after, just like performance boating the Nascar fan demographic is getting old so they are trying to reel in new younger fans.

I think it’s working, my sister and her 12 yo daughter who don’t give two shits about NASCAR or any kind of racing went with us last year and asked if they could go with us again this year. I like it because it reminds me of Saugus Speedway and is actually more exciting in person than on tv. After going to the first race at the Coliseum I had to watch it on tv to understand why people who watched it on tv were saying it was boring. It is boring on tv.

Autoclub Speedway was one of the best party infields in nascar
Never did the infield. Went 3 times. Very first race was cool as a novelty.
To me the racing wasn’t all that great. Just cars going around not really racing. Jmho.
I’m hoping they build a 3/4 - mile track that actually has racing. Passing. Some bumping involved. 🤷

Talladega is way better than Auto Club ever was.
We were told that.... so, wife and I went. Bought seats and infield wristbands. Saturday night was really cool. Good music etc. We went back on Sunday before the race. Dead. People were packed up, nobody milling about; a total let down. NOTHING compared to the Fontcuky Infield. The bikes, the people, the camaraderie. Waaaaayyyyy better than any other combination we've seen.

The clash at the coliseum is Nascar's version of WWF rasslin'.
As far as Fontana I've heard the 3/4 mile short track that was planned may be put on hold indefinitely.
One good thing racing wise in California is the legendary Calistoga fairgrounds race track who's future was in doubt got a reprieve and new lease on life.
The city voted to sell the facility to the county and reopen the facility for racing, camping etc.
Place has been dark for couple years.
One of the most picturesque race tracks in the country...

Having been to Bristol night race a couple of times I don’t understand why they don’t duplicate that. It’s Saugus Speedway on massive steroids.

Agreed, I have been to both races at the Coliseum and will be at this years too....last year I watched the replay with my son, and it was so boring on TV....

If they duplicate Bristol in Fontucky my only request would be to have the track PRIOR to them doing the modifications the track has now (progressive banking). The racing was a million times better when they all ran single file at the bottom and would bump or nudge a car up the track to pass.

I love Martinsville since they messed up Bristol. I’m hoping Fontucky gives us the best of both. Long straights like Martinsville and tight, but banked corners. I’m hearing .67 miles based on the latest permit with the County.

The Fontana track is dead. They are not going to build any track to replace it.
I agree. I think NASCAR messed up when they put the Phoenix, Vegas and Fontana races on consecutive weekends. The NASCAR fan base in Southern California, was largely the same fanbase that attended Vegas and Phoenix. In the early years of Fontana, I would usually frequent at least two of the events when they were spread out during the year. The racing in Phoenix and Vegas is better than Fontana. I used to have "season" tickets for Fontana which included the NASCAR and Indy cars. Talk about boring.........I couldn't give the Indy car tickets away.
