Finally home and recovered from my first DS in my new to me boat!
Wow, what an experience! We drove in from North Scottsdale and about 5 minutes out of Parker we had a blowout on the trailer. I carry an impact and Jack with me so we had it changed in 5 minutes. Stopped in Parker and got the spare replaced and we were on to Havasu!
I had a slip at the marina so we met our friends there, got the boat docked, and headed to our Air B NB.
Consumed some beverages and then headed a few blocks over to the Street Party! Wow, talk about sensory overload! Visited some of the vendors and stopped at RDP for a tank top for me and the misses! Did some drinking at the Irish bar and then headed back to the pad.
The next morning we were at the boat at 8:30 and started heading to Havasu Springs for breakfast. The 22ft Advantage Bada Bing Bada Boom did awesome! Hats off to Octane Marine for getting my new to me boat running and fixing some issues I wasn’t aware of. Breakfast was amazing! On the way back, we putted up the lake checking out the poker run! That was awesome, watching those insane boats haul ass!
We took a lap through the channel but there was no parking; We came around the island and docked the boat and headed to the Nautical! We drank, ate, and partied!! We went back to the pad and got ready for dinner at ChaBones! I had the tomahawk and it was unreal! Headed over to Kokomo after that to meet some friends and enjoy more libations.
Saturday morning we woke up a little later and headed upriver to Topock. It was rough AF out there and on the way the front of my captain chair pulled out of the floor. It was interesting driving the boat after that but we continued. I got disoriented near the entrance to the river and next thing I know we were sand duning! I screamed for everyone to get in the front of the boat, trimmed up, and by some miracle made it to deeper water. I jumped behind another boat that looked like he knew where to go and we got the far right entrance to the river experience. The Gorge was beautiful and we stopped at Topock for lunch. What a spectacle out there!
After lunch, we headed down river and was able to hug the reeds and get into the main lake. Man, was it rough! 4 foot rollers all the way back to the island. As we were coming around the island to the bridge side of the channel, I was staying close to shore. There were no shallow markers and it was there I hit some rocks and screwed up my propeller that I just got redone! Talk about depressing! We motored in to the channel and found a spot, and hung out for a few hours. We went back to the marina and pulled out the boat and had dinner at the pad.
Sunday morning we left early and headed back to SDL. Near Lake Pleasant, we had another blowout on the trailer. Had it changed quick and we made it home. All in all, great trip with the new boat despite the issues. Gonna go to a 24p prop from 26 to help get on plane faster and get my seat fixed. Can’t wait to get back to Havafew!!
