Just to follow up on the out come on the Organ donations , the care team call us this afternoon and inform us that his lungs, liver, kidneys and eyes were all harvested and used throughout United States and will -notify us in couple months what ages the above organs were donated too ! The heart was damaged because of he went into Cardiac rest at home on Wednesday then placed on life support then it was determined he was brain dead from lack of oxygen to the brain .

I am so very sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.

My father was a lung transplant recipient at UCLA in 2007. Coming from the recipient family it was the most amazing gift of life for him and our family. He was literally a few days from losing his battle with fibrosis and received a lung from a 27yr old male. The donor family made the choice to not be contacted after the 1yr mark which we completely respected. However, my father and our family always wanted to thank them and let them know the amazing gift of life their sons decision gave to our family.

God speed to your son and to him making the choice to save other peoples lives!

The first time I read this thread on Sunday, my family was watching a movie called “2 Hearts” on Netflix. If you have not watched it, I recommend it, especially after reading this thread. It’s a true story about two family’s, one suffers a loss and the other benefits from that loss. Watching the movie at the same time as reading this, made me make sure I’m a donor. Thats the ultimate sacrifice to help someone else live. You pass on a hero, no matter what you did here on earth. My advice is make sure you have your faith in God, and are able to donate to help others when it’s time and you are called home.
