When SHOT Show hits Las Vegas, the only thing you can expect is the unexpected—and let me tell you, last week did not disappoint. From jaw-dropping innovations to chance celebrity encounters and dinner to die for, the experience was a wild mix of tactical brilliance and Vegas flair.
New products are always the stars of SHOT Show, but this year? Let’s just say the future is looking both exciting and a little unnerving. Case in point: robotic dogs. Yes, actual four-legged robots that had me convinced Skynet is only a few firmware updates away from world domination. On the brighter side, Miller Precision debuted an incredible AR collaboration that left me floored. Picture this: an AR that disassembles without tools. Need to swap barrels in the field? Done.
Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without a few surprise celebrity run-ins. My favorite? Quite literally bumping into Don Jr. in the crowd. One second he was there, the next he vanished, thanks to a Secret Service extraction that would make Houdini proud. Then there was Sheriff Lamb. First off, why didn’t anyone warn me he’s about ten feet tall? And the southern charm? I’ve never been called “ma’am” so many times in five minutes. Finally, Taran Butler (aka Mr. Precious), who was showing off the next TTI masterpiece slated to star in the upcoming John Wick.
Of course, the most entertaining moments were the ones you couldn’t script if you tried. Watching a live taser demonstration on a very brave volunteer. Equal parts terrifying and hilarious. Legally poaching a Sasquatch (don’t ask—you had to be there). And spotting Mag from Magpul. The cutest mag I have ever seen.
Best dinner was the Golden Steer Steakhouse. We booked our table six months ago, and it was worth every second of the wait. The steaks? Perfection. The table-side bananas foster? Life-changing. The $3,200 bottle of wine? We’ll never know, but I’m sure it pairs nicely with financial regret.
There were plenty of incredible booths, but Staccato’s two-story setup took the cake and the location right next to Glock was classic! (IYKYK) But it wasn’t just the free swag giveaways that turned the crowd into a mosh pit twice a day (though that was something to see). The real highlight was spotting the OG Extreme Shooters grip on display there. As many of you know, I’m the proud owner of Extreme Shooters, so seeing our work showcased was a definite mic-drop moment.
For those scratching their heads about what a Realtor is doing at SHOT Show, let me connect the dots. When I’m not selling homes, I’m running Extreme Shooters, customizing grips for 2011 enthusiasts around the world. SHOT Show is where innovation meets passion, and I wouldn’t miss it for anything.
