Our Pacific Salt Water trailer came with wire ties holding the brake lines. They lasted the drive home from Pacific Trailers and are detonating.. I'd like to not drill the frame to attach the line permanently and would like to use something better than wire ties.

Any takes for a proper fix?

TPC, is that tubular or beam? If tubular you could go inside? Other than drilling holes and attaching with cushion clamps the only option I see are zip ties. If they are breaking every trip try some from an electrical or air conditioning supply house or McMaster Carr.

They make some pretty hefty zip ties now, if you are using the normal 3/16th sized ones, upgrade to the 1/2" ones they use for law enforcement etc, much stronger and will still not do any damage to the trailer.

Or you could epoxy a line mount in place of drilling.....just need to rough it up a bit to get it to stick.

Third option would be to have Brian machine you a bitchin way overkill aluminum clamp that has a line clamp built in :D

Cushion clamps, ss self tappers, seal the threads.

Hollow tubes.

Inquiry with Pacific and I just get the "You take good care of that trailer son,, We build the best trailers in the World".

Mine are inside the tubular frame and only come out at the brakes via a rubber grommet to protect the brake lines. I don't go in salt water though.

TPC,

Here's my solution...

Stainless Steel Square U-Bolt around the Axle w/ backing plate (not pictured in diagram).

Aluminum or Stainless Steel Loop (aka Cushion) Clamps (black), to hold the break-lines (orange)

Stainless Steel Nylock or Flange Nut to secure.

I used to build trailers for Pacific... we welded washers on end to the axle. The assembly guys popped a rubber grommet in fished the brake lines trough. Wiring was done the same way.
Its been a long time since I have been to their shop, but I don't recall ever seeing anything leave like that.

Would be my initial suggestion but he said he doesn't want to drill the frame.

And that's why I just told a guy last week to go to another mfg.

SS Hose clamps. The flat band kind would even look good

This.. Giant hose clamps around the tube.. They will bend square.

That's what I was gonna suggest. You can even put 2 together if you don't find the right size. Go to an industrial/marine hardware or professional auto parts store rather than a chain auto or box store to get a better grade with SS screw mechanism. Pay a little more but worth it if you have to take them off later.

Yeah, that's straight home from their shop.

They put the wrong lug nuts on the studs, got rusted and as good as welded to the stud, and want $1000 to change them out.
We're talking a 3 1/2 year old, properly maintained trailer.
No amount of reasoning will change that.
"You didn't bring it in every year [to Pacific] for service so we can't cover that."

Who in the hell takes their trailer in for service every year?

I guess our definitions of a properly maintained Salt Water trailer are different.
I fresh water rinse the hell out of it launching and retrieving and lube everything.

I'd be taking the Trailer back so they can fix it the correct way like mentioned above ^^^^^. Zip tie's will only come off after time.

If I paid someone to do a service on my trailer and I got it back with wires or hosed looking like this, they would not be getting full payment until that is corrected properly. The looped lines combined with zip toes holding the wire on is purely not acceptable.

Sorry to hear it.
I wonder if old Roger even knows how to use the internet?

In the three years you had it you never noticed the zip ties? I only ask because it wouldn't of even gotten on my hitch if it were my trailer.
I also remember the brakes lines being hard lined up to the spindles. Are those installed entirely flexible? Seems things may have changed.

Besides finding a fix to attach the lines, why all the extra looped line?
