Nice boat and a great spot to stay. My parents kept a boat in a yacht club on Shelter Island for around 20 years, and we spent a lot of time there over the years.

I had my Worldcat 270 moored at Kona Kai for a few years, then moved to Shelter Cove Marina, which the Bali Hai…location.

Lots of memories., Lots of great fishing trips,

Almost positive that’s Jimmy Buffet’s brand new/last boat. It’s a 1 off build with all kinds of modifications from factory spec.

Jimmy Buffett had a 42’ Freeman Hull. Merritt Yachts made the custom top cap and Pilothouse. That was his last boat.

However, when JB passed away, Merritt Yachts was building a custom 56’ catamaran for Jimmy named The Last Mango. It is still under construction. Here are some pics of the 56’ from the last several weeks.

I thought this 42' custom Merritt/Freeman was named Last Mango ? --- but I could have mistaken and didn't associate the name with the new 56'. Both are awesome and I'm guessing up for sale now --- for LOTS of $$$$.

I have fished on a couple different Freemans. Really fast great riding boats. But for $1.5 you can have AC and a shitter....

I was thinking about this boat yesterday and what happened to it
Its in San Diego, on Shelter Island drive, some yacht broker has it for sale.

I dont think it has any fiberglass damage, but the gelcoat on the boat was not put on thick enough in some areas. You can see the fiberglass underneath it. For a “porsche” its not up to the standard is should be. I guess is the best way to word it.

Pretty sure this boat was put in a slip for a year or two, without the right canvas. Basically used hard and put away wet.

Needs lots of love to get to RDP standards.

I've done that walk a bunch of times staying at Humphrey's over the years, good times. A fish taco from the Brig and a cocktail at Bali Hai would make for a great Fri afternoon....

Shit… I can’t count how many times…
Brigantine for fish tacos, oysters during happy hour… great happy hour.
Miguels for calamari stuffed chili relleno - thats a five star meal right their.
Pt Loma– Crab Sandwiches… ohhh hell yeah.
Pearsons deli- that cranky old bastard that owns it, hasnt smiled in 10 years, but fuck me thats one hell of a breakfast burrito. They have to lose money for the weight of that thing, versus the cost, versus what they sell it for. Back in the day, that was 1.5-2lb burrito. o_O

Kona Kai - restaurant was a hidden gem prior to covid.
Blue Wave - in the Best Western Island palms… seriously, one of my favorites. order a drink, sit on the patio overlooking the harbor. Typically have that patio all to your self. LOL.

How many concerts have I heard at Humpheries, literally sitting on the deck of my boat…

Lets not forget the Big Bay Booms, the vast majority of my kids 4Julys where on Shelter Island on our boat. From the time they where in diapers till they where in college.

I probably had boats moored on shelter island for 10-12 years. I was always down their. If not fishing, working on the boats, or just relaxing on the boats…

Great stuff - We spent 10 years doing the 4th of July on a houseboat at Lake Powell, and then probably another 10+ at Shelter Island on the boat. My folks kept a boat at Silver Gate Yacht Club for years, so we'd usually stay either at Humphrey's, Bay Club. or the Island Palms. The last few years we've been spending 4th of July in Coronado which is really fun, but I miss a lot of the places on Shelter Island.
