This is how it looked when I evacuated. I snuck across the bay with neighbors to find it like this. Surprisingly, it has only minor damage, but wedged between shop walls. I guess thats what kept it from going out the other end. I only stayed one night. My house is fine upstairs but the FEMA required blow away walls did just that. I have big job ahead of me.

that sucks.....sorry about your losses.

by the way, how far away did you have to go when you evacuated?

:eek:That looks like quite a mess. I hope you get all your stuff back. Will the insurance cover it?

I went 30 miles inland to my in-laws house. It still swiped them some and now I'm busy cleaning up tree branches. I'm going back to the island hopefully Wed.

Flood insurance only covers the contents of the actual house, but my wife found something in the policy about covering for items in storage. The jetski's were stored. Those bottom walls are breakaway walls so it won't take down the whole house. They won't cover stuff like refrigerators and pool tables.

Holy crap.... Glad to hear you made it through. Hopefully insurance takes care of you quickly. How did your generator fare, doubt there will be any power there on the island?

Our boat is with a broker at South Shore Harbor on Clear Lake Galveston. It was in the water at the brokerage dock and I am 1,200 miles away. Still waiting to hear if we still have a boat.

Man that just sucks, only minor damage? Not bad.

A lot of big boat owners look forward to hurricane season, especially the one's selling the boats!!!;)

Thanks guys...and gals. I took a week off from work to clean up all the wet stuff downstairs so the house wouldn't mold upstairs. My wife has been a really big help. I never new she could work a wheelbarrow so well. Luckily, I am getting vehicles restarted, but the wire fires under the dash just breaks my heart. Cleanup is going good, with a good dose of bleach through a bug sprayer. My Samurai on 44's looks like crap. The boat still stuck in the air, I'm waiting for people to help, but obviously everybody in the neighborhood is busy. I'm really glad to be able to get back on this board because JB really keeps me entertained and the back and forths from some of the others makes fun reading. I managed to get the black and gold jet ski (Sea Doo RXT) back in the water and that's what I'm using to go back and forth on the mainland. I'm not supposed to be on the Island but everybody else is sneaking on and off by boat. Here are a few pics. I'll keep everybody up to date. Thanks again for the condolences.

Interesting how the house is built on Sonotube pilings. Now I understand how they get away with the break-away walls.

Looks like you have made lots of progress on the clean-up. Keep the good attitude. Keep us posted:thumbsup
