In 2004 when I bought my first diesel I had always wanted a excursion but being a single guy I didn't think I had much use for one and I just kept buying different trucks. Fast forward to 2012 the excursion still had been on my mind but by then I realized I had wanted a 7.3. I found one in Temecula that a old lady was selling it was her husbands that had passed away it had 280k but I had pulled the service records which showed they had taken very good care of it. On my way back from Havasu I stopped and looked at it we agreed on a price and I took it home. This is the day I bought it. IMG_2151.jpg

Then it was time to lift it. I did lots of research on what product I was gonna use. I ended up with a CT performance lift. It was more money but he had mastered the ride in the excursion and I also did a red head steering box IMG_7540.jpg IMG_7538.jpg

Just this year it was time for some new paint and I couldn't be happier the way it turned out. Took the emblems off the front fenders and the pin stripe, also changed the bumpers back to white IMG_3988.jpg IMG_3990.jpg IMG_3986.jpg

Very nice. I had a Redhead steering box on my 05' 250. It was one really nice piece of hardware.

Of course I have done a lot of other things performance wise DP tuner banks cold air intake and 4 inch exhaust. Custom gauges upgraded stereo and blue tooth deck. All lights are LED on the exterior.
Just ordered all new Katzkin interior doing a two tone with heated and cooled seats I will post pics once it is installed.

You are the reason I want a 7.3 Excursion. I should have bought Papa G's......I think I am going to start looking for one again. We are going to need the extra room.......lol.

I've owned two 7.3 Excursions and they are by far the best most versatile vehicles I've ever owned and I still own the second one . You did a nice job with yours.

One of the best things about it you can pile everyone in there and at over 9,000lbs you feel safe. Best of luck Papa G's was the one to buy.

How do you do the cooled seats? (I'm assuming it didn't come factory)

The biggest change is the bumpers, body color on them just looks right.

I owned one back a few years and I never should have sold it. baed on the pictures you have one ,ore thing to do. Firestone airbags in the rear. I have done them on my excursion, and two F250s. Best thing for towing.. Cheap if you do it yourself.

Very nice truck and you have certainly improved it. The 7.3 is a good engine, and the EX is a one of a kind rig.

As of late I have been contemplating selling my 97 F-350 crew cab 4x4 dually, but it is a tough decision to come to grips with. Bought it new, only has 105k on it.
I don't know. I will probably regret it if I do.

Very nice.
How do you retro in cooled seats? Aren't they usually plumbed to the AC system?

Maybe the angle of the photo... are the center lines not matched?

I have non buyers remorse...I should have bought it when we talked. I keep looking on autotrader for something as nice as yours.

Does bullet proofing a 6.0 solve its issues? There are a bunch of them out there but I have not heard good things about them.

If I was gonna buy a 6.0 I would bullet proof it. I like the tranny better in the 6.0.

Most of the time it takes care of a lot of the future issues. I just do not like the 6.0's. I rather buy a 7.3 and do some very mild mods and have a bullet proof workhorse for 200-300k miles. I would add a 6.0 trans cooler and add years to the life of the 7.3 trans. The 6.0 trans is supposedly a little stronger but if you are not towing heavy and take care of it I have seen them go 200k easily. I guess it is a personal choice in the end.

I put a 31 row 6.0oh no trans cooler on my 7.3 truck. Bolted right in no problems. A couple of new fittings, some hose and a few beers.

Tranny runs easily 40-50 degrees cooler.
