You should add "I'm unemployed" to their list of complaints.
They’d sue and you’d have to pay for their unemployment benefits forever. You’re better off lowering their hours to nothing at oddball hours and forcing em to quit. They WANT to be fired so they don’t have to work.

I started a book. But I have a question, how many grandparents' funerals have your employees attended? I have one guy that has gone to at least 7 in the last 4 years.

Years ago (alot of years) there was a mimeo graphed sheet of "excuses" you could pass out to employees , each one had a number so when the worker called it they just said Number 1 , or Number 5 soas to shorten phone time 🥲

You got to love it😂😂

The new gen have some growing up to do, remember.

I’ve mentioned over the years watching the turn over of new people at the shop.
Hardly anyone wants to work.
The two guys doing mold prep lately are a notch above the rest of the dozen or so that came before them. So there is hope.

It’s been a little over a year ago now, Jake and his shop supervisor called me in to the office to have a discussion.

Someone out in the shop had made it known to them that (If you guys can believe this shit) Larry is a bit too “abrasive” 🙄

“Which one of those snow flake cocksuckers said that?” I asked.😎

It just got better from there😂

I have one of my techs who just attended his 4th funeral for this year already. Thats not including the days he’s missed for the services. The funeral is your king of excuses. You don’t want to seem unsympathetic. So you don’t question them about it.

Just had this discussion with another inmate today. He's a bit my senior, but not much. I know he can out work me these days...which pisses me off a little...but I know I can still outwork people half, or a third my age. What the hell?

Luckily, one of my boys doesn't like getting shown up, so he'll push himself when I have him help me on stuff. The other one is trying a bit harder now, because he doesn't like that his younger brother is getting stronger than him.

Had a house painter tell me he started the season with six employees, it was mid July and he was down to one. They wouldn't show up for work, etc , but the last one told him that he had to go home at 3:30, because that was when he had to brush his cats teeth.

Sadly nothing surprises me anymore. I mean classrooms have litter box’s for kids so I guess we shouldn't be that shocked 🤣

Witnessed this at my buddies biddy shop. Early 20's dude, was removing a core support and surrounding structure by drill spot welds. After every spot drilled he would f around on his phone for about the same amount of time it took to drill a weld out. Took him about 45 minutes to drill 10.
He didn't last long.
The phone a a big hindrance in the work place.

I believe this - most residential house painters are a different breed lol.

I had one who was awesome, but he would dissapear for 6 months at a time every so often, then resurface. Would go to Mexico on a bender and not come back periodically. His wife was a house cleaner and she cleaned a few houses for my friends - it was awkward when she would ask if we knew where he went..... 😂

Had another who was painting the inerior of house, and just stopped showing up with the job only 50% done. A few weeks later he shows up asking if he can finish the job, looking for his tools. Apparently he took the cash I had paid him 2 weeks ago on a Friday, and promptly used it to proposition a hooker on Sepulvida Blvd - got popped and tossed in jail 😂. Then his wife threw him out of the house,, etc etc - but now he's ready to work again. This time, I wrote him a check ...

Last painter I tried for the interior of my new house, ran out of paint to finish 9 times and stretched the job out to 3 weeks. He was supplying the materials, and was only bringing 1-gallon at a time! I asked him "why we don't just go pick up a couple 5'ers and get this done?" and he said "no....es not the same, 1 gallon is thee best". Um.....well, get 10 of those then would ya? He wanted to paint the outside but I turned him down. A neighbor then hired him to paint the outside of her home, and the job went for 10 weeks!

Currently looking for a new painter if you have one
