I don't understand why someone would buy a plain Jane 89 Mustang for that kind of money when you can buy a new GT for $31,900. Unless, that's the missing piece of your Mustang collection puzzle or you tapped your first piece of ass in one.

These cars are sold as an investment. Think of it like buying stock in a company. It's value could go up, it could go down. These cars are not bought to use or drive.

I get that, I guess I'm just having trouble getting it with some of those cars. Like others have said, to me they are nothing special. But, they must be special to someone(investment wise or sentimental).

I wen't to the BJ auction that they had in Costa Mesa......awesome deal

I think the fact that they basically pour drinks down your throat help a lot of people with more $$$ than brains make some impulse buys...lol

I also think the fact that a "celebrity" owned the cars helped with the values.

It wouldn't surprise me if those values decline quite a bit over then next couple years. I'm not a buy a car and never drive it kind of guy so it just doesn't make sense to me. I have seen auctions where people have lost 20K on cars like these vs. the original sale price not counting storage, etc for a car that has 15 miles with the plastic and window sticker still on the window.... you never really know
