What kind of trailer do each boat come with as standard?
I know DCB will come with this model.

Extreme Engineering Trailer
- 8" frame, tri-axle, torsion axles and dual disc brakes, aluminum wheels with radial tires
-EXTREME Trailer/ LIPPERT Components 30% Steel
- 18" Chrome Aluminum spoke wheel package, mounted spare tire, courtesy center ladder
- LED lighting package, Demco brake actuator, oil bath hubs,
- 20oz. Marine carpet on bunks with SS thru bolts & nuts wesbar 7 round connector,
- Triangle end drive guard
- upgrade to large steps with LED
-Loading light package
-Ladder light package
- Electric jack & Castor

The MTI, I dont know, didn't make it that far after they told me 2 million. 😁

Are you planning on going with a standard trailer or full out with a tilt?

not for nothing. But it does sound like you’re leaning to the DCB. seems like overall it would fit your needs better especially considering a Tru tunnel vs pod doesn’t really matter to you since you’ll be in havasu the most. Just remember, that custom care runs down to every nut and bolt. You want wider seats, tell them. Different seating? Tell them. I’d talk to Vivanco with the DLA 44 open bow DCB too. The “custom” level went as far as not only making his an open bow but making its an extra large open bow. @H20 Toie rode with them in the delta and said the boat was fantastic with the open bow and maneuverability inside the boat (he’s not exactly small or agile…no offense danimal).
maybe even see if you can hitch a ride and check it out first hand. Just food for thought.

Oh and I’d go tilt trailer all day. At 1.2 mil what’s an extra 100k compared to the WOW factor?! 😁 I mean and ease of towing and blah blah blah….COOL FACTOR! Lol😂

MTI all day any day. DCB is real nice but stacked up against MTI.... nope... no way. Far superior boat.

In what way is an MTI built better than a DCB? Their hull layup facility is separate from their main facility, or used to be, and they keep their hull info fairly tight lipped.

Curious what makes an MTI hull superior to a DCB.

Chris is probably referring to race proven / offshore proven, multi National championships, etc.

To me, that doesn’t translate into them
Being better, just different company direction and focus. if you were planning on running offshore and beating the shit out of it, probably go with MTI as well considering the above stated. But I think most everyone would agree DCB’s fit and finish is second to no one or at least tied with cigarette as best ever (sorry @Tony DCB Boats I’m a cigarette fanboy, you know this lol 😂😂 and I know you lurk 😉 )

How would you tow a wide body cat flat and not hit anything? Need a wide load permit?
I’m no expert but I believe there is a yearly wide load permit you can get that will cover the width of these boats. As far as how not to hit anything, I would assume the perfect mix of skill and patience lol.

DCB is building an open bow walk through (I think it was a M33 or 35) right now. Very nice boat! Tony was nice enough to walk us around and they are definitely at the top of their game. If I was building a boat in that price range DCB would be at the top of the list.

As far as performance between the two I would say MTI would win that. Not really apples to apples though, true tunnel vs a center pod. When it comes to fit and finish I would say they are honestly equal. As far as performance boats go those are the two best in the industry. Tony and DCB have some amazing customer service and support. Like someone else mentioned I think MTI is pretty hush hush when it comes to their build process when the boat is in the mold but I’m sure their customer service is decent or people wouldn’t be buying from them. These are baller problems that I don’t have but if I wanted the best performance boat I would go MTI. If I wanted a really good performance boat that can still be a family cruiser I would go DCB

Kinda what Tank said... DCB's are awesome....an amazing and beautiful lake boat.......but never tested in the race world or nothing noteworthy....... running up and down a lake is fun but nothing like running offshore. Nobody knows the weak points in a DCB because none of the 37,41 or 44 have every been raced month after month.....shit shows up and manufactures make improvements...race and repeat. DCB is a performance boat but never really has proved it. MTI's history started with the owner overseeing major race teams and development....his boats are being raced year and year...even last weekend. High end Ferraris, Porsches are revered and sought after because everyone knows decades of racing and R/D is in every single car. DCB is like a Lamborghini.... awesome car but no real race program or heritage of pure performance.
But in the end if I could afford these boats, it would be a Skater 368

Good little video just uploaded. Myrick is Fuckin classic. @Tony DCB Boats trying to keep it on track 😂 myrick and Brett and the boys from PBC had a good weekend in havasu. But goes to show you, myrick who’s a champion offshore racer (in a skater) and rigger etc for years and years. Giving some pretty big props to DCB and Tony.

Looking forward to seeing the DCB 42 outboard
Was hoping for a 32 based on 37 in the future

True... It is not. We build ours with Carbon and Carbon Kevlar. All Vacuum Infused. EVERY part is. Our build quality is second to none and at 15 a year to their 40-50. Quality over quantity for us all day every day... They brag about how many boats they build...

It really is apples to oranges. At the end of the day, it is your money and you have to feel good about what and who you are going with. For me I have to lean towards being one of fifteen instead of one to forty to fifty anyday.

We will continue to do what we do... Period.

Very well said. I would agree with most of this and stay tuned for a canopy on a 37. Our build quality will take offshore, but the cool and pretty factor is where our bread and butter is.
The true tunnel and center pod boats are very different and unique in their own way.

This is a good post here and yes MTI has a good racing heritage and is a good boat.

DCB is a DCB...

@MR HARLEY for Havasu boating with family, my vote between the 2 would be the DCB, hands down. Open bow, mid cuddy

Much friendlier layout for a "normal" day on the water and family / guests who aren't there for an offshore race experience.....
Easier to dock, easier to handle.

You've already established that your crew loves the open bow, and you don't want to be confined to just the rear cockpit.

You've also got DCB headquarters nearby for any issues, and DCB is regularly in Havasu.

And cheaper to boot!

No question!

To all the “DCB never raced” fan boys… Here you go. If their lamination schedule could hold up in offshore racing back 20+ years ago, I have zero doubt in their current build quality, which is second to none with no debate. And that 28 Extreme is still out on the water today.

If you had the chance to build out a new boat, what would you build between the two and why?

DCB would be a full walk thru like our current F29.
I really don't see this even being a question, DCB hands down.

First and foremost with DCB you get Tony, and that right there is worth it's weight in gold.

Havasu boating? Open bow DCB for sure. I am a Skater guy, but the build quality of the DCB, fit and finish, I don't believe they have an equal in this game.

I don't see any positive going with a MTI (cat), especially if this is your dream boat. You can't even go watch MTI lay up their boats? Pick some colors and that's it.

Somebody mentioned the race history of MTI? Who gives a shit, the owner will be lounging with his family, not worried if his boat will make turn 1 at a buck 20.
We all know it was taken from Skater anyway....=)

Go all out on the DCB brother, and make sure you start a build thread!!

Seeing a DCB v hull is like seeing a unicorn. They might be out there but every DCB I see is a cat. I think I can count on my hands how many v hulls I’ve seen from DCB.

I would think building a v hull to survive offshore racing and building a cat to do the same are completely different from the forces applied to the hull. The v hull is a solid body. The cat wants to probably fold in half from the sponsons.

I will however gladly take a DCB v hull if they still want to build one.

I'll take a swing at that since I have a 368. Mine is a touch over 40'. Skater DOES NOT measure bustle, just running surface. A Skater 438 is an absolutely GIGANTIC boat. It is 12' or even 12'6" (I can't remember) wide. Mike Ciasuli had a 438 out at DS a couple years ago. He's had lots of Skaters. His nickname was always "Skater Mike" HAs to be towed tilted, The tilt trailer even has to be special, due to max height laws. Skater build a special trailer for this series boat, that tilts 88deg. (see video)

He sold the 438 simply because it was too big. He told me at dinner one night "It's like piloting an aircraft carrier."

My 368 handles everything it needs to. It got a bit uncomfortable during the poker run at DS, but still manageable. If your looking for a good Havasu sized boat, the 368 is fine. So is a 388. Most of the nasty, wind blown stuff Havasu throws at you, the 368 loves to play in. @rivrrts429 can attest to, when you point it into the nasty green, windy slop, that is where these things shine.

Bling and interior quality and detail? DCB. Skater (Peter) just see's things differently, its all functional and performance. Like @Duramax said to me once, "Your lucky to get a cup holder in a Skater" My interior is nice but pretty spartan, nothing special. Skater doesn't even have an interior shop. There's a long time Skater business associate in Grand Rapids that does his interiors.

Comparing performance of a M37 vs a Stern drive Skater probably isn't really fair, they're two completely different set-ups, intended for a very different customer. I'm not now and never will be an Outboard guy (other than a pontoon or something) the only things you could compare would be top speed perhaps? I have mine toned down for driving with the transom pretty planted. (turning in) Lost speed but it drives like a luxury car, rather than a cup car leaving the pits.

Its all trade-offs and compromise. Mine is used as a family boat, RARELY hit triple digits. I had the Skater guys in my boat during DS and "accidentally" hit 100 briefly. I know how fast it goes, and can do it whenever I want. I just don't want to, on busy waterways. Even at 65, you're passing almost ever single boat going your direction. That's risk, with every pass. At 120+ the time to react to boats you're overtaking is reduced, by scary numbers

Just my thoughts.

Steve is right. His 368 eats up anything Havasu has. It’s almost not fair. You sort of feel like you’re cheating when you see everyone else pounding into it and we’re as comfortable as can be 😂

It’s an absolute blast to run around in that boat.

The nastier the water gets is when the bigger Skaters show their true colors. No matter what Peter builds, 36-40-46 are the king of the jungle.
