Yeah backcountry flying is insane ! MT and ID are incredible.Bonus points for the taildragger. Great content thanks for posting.
Be on your toes ! Had a deer dart under the wing on final in Idaho on Saturday. Throttled went over and landed.Beautiful! I could really get used to living on a lake like that.
Question: On a grass landing strip like that, how do you deal with deer, elk or even moose up there?
Thank you. Anything safer than the California freeways! What a shit showGreat flying. Stay safe. If you ever need a copilot in az I’m around 80 hours, lol.

I don’t know but the are pretty awesome !So who is doing turbine Goose conversions?
Lots of info on the goose on the web, searched N642. They have a Faceplant page also. Sounds like it was a navy plane, then sold to Dept. Of Interior,, Alaska. Was converted to turbine in '68 while in Alaska. Later, sold to private party. So who is doing turbine Goose conversions?
I use ForeFlight and Windfinder . You are considerably further east and south and where I’m located. I would check the local forecast come in high and do the standard approach into that airport. I am not familiar with it haven’t landed there.Way cool Paul,
What site do you get your wind info from for wind over the ridges?
Flying to Red Lodge next week, not sure if I want to go over the top or come up east side of mountain then straight into Red Lodge.
Which one? There are at least 5 that are open to powerboats all within an hour and a half from us and we are on the southernmost end of Flathead. I think the OP posted pics of three of them. He is a lot closer to the others than we are.Absolutely incredible pictures.. how cold is the water on that lake?
The water is in the mid 70s. Pretty warm. For now. Yes temperatures are dropping quickly.Absolutely incredible pictures.. how cold is the water on that lake?
