Stupid f'n blowbote
I BELIEVE.......if my memory serves.......IN MOST CASES.....the vessel under sail without aux power engaged has the right of way over vessels under power. IN MOST CASES.
i would need to research, but some exceptions exist and 1 deals with sailing in a shipping lane and having to yield to the large cargo ship.
Blow fags as my dad used to call them. He would get so pissed when they would exploit the sail has right of way angle all the time and just make a tack right in front of you.

Right of way or not physics would settle it.
Them Lakers are not usually very maneuverable.
That one seemed like it was pretty maneuverable. Of course it wasn't as big as the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Right of weight... aka lug nut law on the roads!
Port Huron, MI. Heading north into Lake Huron. Lucky it wasn’t one of the 1000 footers that come through there. video may have had a different ending.
Link…that sounds fun to watchI've seen videos of those big bulk carriers sucking canals dry and displacing the shoreline by more than 50' as they pass by.
My brother lives on the St. Clair just south of where this video was taken. The water levels will fluctuate and the current will actually reverse itself under his dock. Never witnessed a significant change. Ironically, I have seen the Cuyahoga go past his house in the past.I've seen videos of those big bulk carriers sucking canals dry and displacing the shoreline by more than 50' as they pass by.
