A motorcyclist was killed after fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers who attempted to make a traffic violation stop in Pacoima Thursday morning, authorities said.

The incident began about 1:35 a.m. when multiple calls were made reporting a group of about 10 motorcycles doing tricks, recording video and blocking traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway at Roscoe Boulevard, CHP Officer Sanchez said.

Arriving officers located two motorcycles about 1:40 a.m. and attempted to make an enforcement stop, Sanchez said.

One of the motorcyclists attempted to exit the freeway and crashed into a wall on the Terra Bella Street exit.

Officers rendered aid to the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was identified only as a man in his mid 20s.

No other motorcyclists remained at the scene.

Reoccurring theme for them to draw in LE and then run. No cop cars going to catch a skilled MC rider and they know it. Most cops know it too and won’t bother pursuing. But how much does the rider trust their own skills? Over confidence is what gets many of them. Many times they run out of talent. Sometimes they don’t. It’s a gamble.

I actually like watching these guys rolling down the street and doing wheelies and tricks and stuff. It’s bitchen. Closing down the freeway though? That’s fuckin stupid and entitled and inconsiderate and douchey.

Lots of these idiots don't run plates, mainly for id reasons, but I have heard numbers as high as 40% are stolen.

I live in San Gabriel Valley and I tell people I'd rather lick the streets of Baldwin Park before I ever live in Pacoima

Same thing happened last week in Grand Prairie.

A motorcyclist was killed in Grand Prairie on Thursday night after he sped away from officers who were trying to pull over the bike, which crashed into a Buick sedan making a left turn, police said.

The motorcycle overturned, police said, and ignited upon impact. The driver, whose identity wasn’t released, was killed instantly.
