I'm usually a damn-the-torpedos type of guy when it comes to gas prices, but I'm seriously considering curtailing activities this summer. The cost of my trip to Colorado has doubled in the last few months. Might just be time to hunker down and ride this out.

That is a tough pill to swallow. I got diesel this morning at Costco in Torrance and it was 5.79. Just have to get there early.

Yep. This mess wiped out the kids race season.

Interesting how the mandate are lifted but people are still willing to remain in their homes.

I have no idea why people would go to chevron. Here in Kingman people get chevron gas for 5.37 and you can look across the street BIG sign at maverick 4.49. Don’t get it.

Vermont and Torrance Blvd is my guess. They are always the highest around by far. The one by it not much better next to Alpine village.

It's $6.29 most spots for diesel. $350 no longer fills up my Diesel.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! 🍗

… Thought I might have a little fun driving my 97 Dodge ram 5.9 4x4 diesel around… As I had to take the 11 foot Lance camper off before Hoopers rear end would check to see what is wrong with the rear/ rear end if anything… The truck has 4:10 gears in it …it is not particularly great on fuel mileage…
…even at 6:50 a gallon …thought I might do some cruising…
… apparently I trashed the limited slip …took a chunk out of the pinion gear …
and it needs bearings… $1500 deal… Could easily have been twice that…
… so maybe I will go to Sun Valley Radiator and have them charge the air conditioning and do a little sightseeing by way of my rattling 12V diesel…
… Just went back through this thread… Looks like finding diesel for $6:50 maybe a thing of the past???….

I don't know how you got that from my post. I might be curtailing some trips and keeping things closer to our home town. I didn't do that during COVID.

Honestly I have better things to spend money on than $9/gal gas on the water (or $10/gal Avgas).

I wouldn’t care if it had Techron, Omnicron, or if the baby Lord Jesus pissed in it I wouldn’t go there😀
I figure I paid good money for a vehicle with 9000 computers in it so let the computer figure out the best way to burn the gas I put in it 😀😀😃😃

High performance german cars and Kingman Az just don’t go together. 😃😀
Seriously I pass by those 2 gas stations a minimum of 8 times a day. Just see everyday cars there. And Maverick even has more pumps so you never wait. Me personally I only go to Smith’s. With all the groceries I actually got 30 cents off a gallon. We go late at night and bring 2 vehicles to take advantage of the 35 gallon limit.

So, where’s the line in the sand for people? Does it not matter for many people now that so many are remote workers? Is the fuel bill just not hurting the budget significantly for the average person?

We only drove 9k miles last year, so gasoline is less a month than cell phone bill. These prices are nuts though!

Driving our trucks were spending about $2k a month getting the kids to school. My son got his Honda running, so the last few weeks he's been driving to school which helps, but damn,,,,

We have not changed our summer plans yet; but I don’t see runs to Topock for Sunday breakfast each Havasu weekend occurring this year. We will go south find a cove and chill.

I am very fortunate, with work travel picking up and my trailer parked in Havasu (Havasu is my work home June through Aug), so most of our trips will be coordinated with work travel (so work pays the gas).

That's giving the Chevron at Vidal Junction an run for the money. Last time I was by there, I think it was at least 7 for 91.

Dont forget everyone in Kali, gas tax hike in July is like 59 cents a gallon more. Some morons voted for this gas tax hike, I sure as hell didnt. FJB might be good for the rest of the country but in this state we screw ourselves. FGN! (F*ck Gavin Newsom!)

Not 59 a gallon.
The apx 3 cent inflationary increase takes effect July 1, with the tax rate slated to increase from 51.1 cents per gallon to 53.9 cents per gallon.

Oh good, then I had heard it wrong. That sounded like too much of a jump to me. I thought I did hear they were looking into delaying the tax, but maybe that was last year... who knows, I cant keep track of the multitude of gas taxes that dont go to what the tax was originally for...

CA republicans wanted to pause all gas tax for 6 months.
CA democrats want to give each registered car owner a $400 (up to 2 cars per household) check. The kicker, does not matter type of car (gas, hybrid, electric).

You didn’t “hear wrong” you were lied to. I heard the same thing dozens of times on the news.

A 12V will burn anything that remotely resembles oil.

I work in oil trading at Chevron. RBOB which is the base grade for gasoline is up 30 cents this week(about 10%). Gasoline normally lags about a month as a refinery will buy and sell everything a month in advance. More pain to come.

Oh about 30 cents of those prices are new carbon credits Cali is now requiring companies buy too. As with any other company this is getting passed through.
