We have a 25' Bennington Tritoon with the power and propeller in the pictures. Mid 50's fully loaded. Does anyone have input on this setup for a few more mph? I would love to see 60. Thank you in advance.

Put it on a jack plate and get that prop up and start grabbing some air. That will drastically up the RPM. with a larger prop. What is your WOT RPM currently?

If you are hitting mid 50 fully loaded, thats damn impressive!
Only things you can do at this point are, loose some weight and get the drive higher out of the water.
As asked above, what is your max RPMS at your current top speed?

Get rid of the pontoon if you wanna go fast. Just saying they are not efficient hulls for speed.

Also any faster than 50 it’s miserable for the occupants on boards with the wind

Enertias are awesome props.

In my experience on a 28ft heavy offshore fishing boat with twin 250s…

The Enertias where 2 mph faster on top speed over the Rev 4s, and both where hitting about the same max RPM.

I chose the Rev 4s, because they cruised at lower RPMs “better fuel economy “ and much better maneuvering abilities in slow speed docking situations.

But that was a heavey Grady White WACC type VHull boat.

The key thing is max RPMs your getting, with out that info, theres not much more advice we can give.

If your low on max RPM, then you may have the existing props tuned to get a more RPMs. If your really low in Max RPMs then you might be able to get next size larger in pitch.

Which means either cutting weight or raising the engine to free up the prop.

Are you hitting the redline? Are you measuring your speed on GPS or a regular speedometer.

Raise the engine one hole and go from there.
I’ve seen drives so high that the upper water pickups were plugged with small allen pipe plugs.

I was able to get over 60 with the Berkshire and a 400R but not even close with the Benny, lots heavier.

I think the max RPM is 5400 for that motor. It's been a few months since I've driven it.

You may be under propped. 17 pitch is pretty low. You might just want to try a 21p.

How's the acceleration? If it's really solid, I'd maybe suggest a 18 4 blade. Give the transom more lift and general rul of thumb is about 2" of pitch loss going from 3 to 4 blade (likely from increased friction of the extra blade reducing the RPM).

I think the max RPM is 5400 for that motor. It's been a few months since I've driven it.

Double check that. I am pretty sure the RPM range is much higher... closer to 6200-6800 RPM, I think it was the same as the 400R.

Just did a quick search and am seeing MAX rated RPM way higher than what you saw at 5400, Maximum RPM loaded the way you use it is the absolute most important issue, at 5400 that engine is not making its advertised horse power. Before you buy any propeller test it wide open for a mile or more and again loaded the way you'll use it most. Trim the way you'll use it most. If your number are correct, more pitch will make it worse not better. RPM will change about 200 RPM per inch of pitch when you have a verified starting point you can then start the conversation of what to try next.

I'd double check your speed and RPM and report back. It looks like a higher pitch prop could help you out but need to know your current max RPM.

I'd recalibrate the speedometer, it'll be cheaper. Is there really a reason for a pontoon to go 60 instead of 55?
