Just got a heads up from a friend and Las Vegas Metro officer. Do not go to Lake Mead this weekend. The Mongols are having a club rally in Boulder City and the Coast Guard has been called in to patrol the lake. The CG will be setting up numerous "check points".

I don't know why anyone would have any trouble as long as you showed respect and weren't an asshole.

Well I live here and its been the talk of the town for months. There here for the weekend for there annual get together. They cops called in forces from every where. Supposed to be 100 cops from all over here uniformed and in plain clothes as well as DEA and FBI. The mongols have been to our city council meetings and assured everyone that its supposed to be like their family event and wont cause trouble. They bought out a couple of hotels here and supposed to have a parking lot party for them selves. A couple of buisness have closed down cause they are in fear or dont want their buisness. I have a friend who owns a bar here that they frequent and hes not worried. Its crazy to see so many damn cops!

As long as rivals don't try to disrupt their event it should be fine.

First hand info: There are well over 125+ LEO's with ZERO tolerance working the area throughout the event, Metro's gang unit, task force, etc. is out in full force as well as DEA, FBI, State Police, NHP, North town PD, Boulder PD, Henderson PD and a lot of undercover mixing in the crowd.

BOULDER CITY, Nev.?Hugs, handshakes and hope for a peaceful weekend emerged during an old-fashioned town meeting involving leather-clad Mongols motorcycle club members, shop owners and residents in this town a little more than 20 miles east of Las Vegas.
But Boulder City Police Chief Tom Finn left no doubt for his standing-room-only audience of more than 75 people that local, state and federal authorities will be ready if trouble erupts Friday, Saturday and Sunday as up to 400 Mongols members gather for a national meeting in Boulder City.

Several residents at the late Tuesday meeting remembered a fatal brawl between Mongols and rival Hells Angels during a 2002 motorcycle rally in the Colorado River resort town of Laughlin, about 100 miles south of Las Vegas. Three people died and more than a dozen were injured.

The rival clubs clashed again in 2008 in Las Vegas, when authorities said six people were hurt when Hells Angels leaving a wedding at a downtown marriage chapel encountered three Mongols arriving for a later ceremony. Thirteen people are facing felony charges.

While Finn wouldn't provide details, he said that police from Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas, Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and agents from several federal agencies will be working with Boulder City police during the weekend to prevent another clash.

"My major concern is if a rival club comes into town to disrupt the Mongols event, as we saw in Laughlin in 2002,"
the police chief said. "That would be disastrous."
Boulder City's adobe-arched main street, Nevada Way, recalls a time when it served workers of the colossal Hoover Dam project in the 1930s. Its 15,000 residents today enjoy a quiet and casino-free throwback to that earlier era, where they can gossip over coffee at the corner diner, visit hat and curio shops, sip wine at a bistro and greet each other on the way to church.

A Mongols club representative from Las Vegas wearing sunglasses and a leather vest stepped to the front of the City Hall crowd and compared Boulder City to a "classic" 1952 Harley-Davidson panhead motorcycle. The man, who went by the name "Blanco," said he admired its civic "spirit and soul." He refused to provide his real name.

"This is a promise from Mongol nation," the man told townspeople. "We will respect your city and leave it cleaner than when we find it."

Audience members applauded. And they laughed when Finn told them it would be best to remember to obey speed limits and stop signs with so many uniformed and undercover police in town.

But some expressed concern about rumors circulating among high school students, and one mother asked if she should advise her children to stay away from downtown and the Boulder Inn & Suites hotel, where members were staying.

There was no reason to fear, said club lawyer and meeting organizer Stephen Stubbs, who said he is not a club member. Members were coming to town for what he characterized as a "family reunion."

"They're not here to cause problems," he said. "They're here to meet up with brothers from other states who they haven't seen in a very long time."

Stubbs said Mongols were renting 113 of 117 rooms at the Boulder Inn & Suites. Finn said other participants also were staying at small hotels in the area, and the club was renting from the city an adjacent parking lot.

"This is a private party on private property," the police chief said.

"I think it's going to be good for business," said Merry Summey, a quilting and novelties store owner who said she hoped Mongols friends or family members would visit her shop.

Beth Walker, owner of a candy and ice cream parlor a couple of blocks up Nevada Way, noted that neighboring businesses have seen a recent slump due to road construction that still has the pavement torn up in front of the hotel.

"I'm quite happy to welcome 400 new visitors over a two-day period," she said.

"We have enough room in our town," Mayor Pro Tem Cam Walker said after the meeting. "People can be respectful of each other."

It isn't even them as a group particularly. Any large gathering of a club, family, etc. to me means more respect should be afforded. Numbers=Power

My parents now in there 60's were heading out to SLC to visit my uncle and they stopped in Wyoming to stay the night and there was a big bike rally going on, They get there room and I guess it was rowdy as shit and she calls me the next day and said she got me a shirt sized medium and I told her I have been wearing a x-large for over 18 years but its all good, she asks me do you and your biker friends act like this all the time and I asked her what do you mean? She asked if I stayed up late at night and drink massive amounts of alchol, I said yes mom that is standard operating procedures at rallies, she came back and said why would you do that...shit mom I dont know cause thats what we do...She told me she would never stay in a town that had a biker convention again and I told her I thought that would be a good thing.

So are you saying don't go because some outlaw bikers are going to be there or don't go because there will be so many cops ?

When I go to events that are attended my HA's, Mongols ,Vagos, whatever the first thing I realize is they don't give a shit about me. I just go about my business and they go about theirs.

Are they wearing their cuts around town? Just wondering about the RICO law. I think they can't wear the cuts out on the road due to the Rico law.

Not true. Mongols sued and won their colors back in Federal court.

Mongols MC Wins Right to Wear Colors

Posted on Sep 30, 2009
In October 2008, the federal government seized the Mongols MC trademark, in a highly publicized court proceeding. The government maintained that the club's colors were subject to seizure, and later forfeiture under the federal RICO statute. In fact, anything bearing the trademarked design of the Mongols was subject to seizure, including support items and even motorcycles.

In May 2009, Ramon Rivera, a member of the Mongols MC, brought a civil case to the United States District Court, Central District of California. Mr. Rivera filed a motion for a preliminary injunction alleging that he could not wear his colors because the government would wrongfully seize them. The court found that Mr. Rivera had the standing to challenge the seizure order from the lower court, and that the government's seizure of property was improper. The court ruled that although the mark sought to be seized was not a typical trademark, it was a "collective membership mark," which directly implicated the First Amendment's protection of freedom of association. Click here to read the Court's Decision.

The items sought to be seized were expressive and were associated with the Mongols Nation. Because of this association and support of the views of the Mongols, the government's seizure of property bearing the mark constituted an effort to silence those views, which amounted to discrimination and denial of First Amendment rights.

Im saying dont go because there are too many other weekends to enjoy the lake and town another weekend. Why put yourself in a spot where there could be a potential for disaster. I personally do not think there will be any problems, but again why be there to find out. If anybody feels putting their family next to a club rally that has been involved in shootings, murders, stabings and theft thats your calculated risk and one I wont take.

On one to one encounters I have had zero issues with Mongols, Banditos, Red/White etc.. But my last encounter was a couple of years ago in Havasu as the River Run spilled over into town. Without going into all details. We were behind a Mongol driving a pickup. While at a red light, Havasu's finest thought that would be a good spot to do a felony stop. With cops and guns drawn on either side of my truck, using it as cover (with wife and 3 kids inside) I had to put my truck in reverse ready to push their cop car out of my way with my boat. What if that guy got stupid?

I knew the river run over spills in Havasu but thought it would be no big deal. I dont think their idea of "family" and mine are compatible.

Cops may sux but 1% sux more.

Thinking the same thing. Vagos had their annual meeting at Blue Water last year. Beached the boat and made my way to the cantina. 50 ish of them sitting around drinking/ DJ and here I am with the wife in a bikini:boobeyes:. Had the oh shit feeling for a second but not one comment was directed to the wife or me. One of them even complemented me on the boat. :thumbsup

Just drove through town and the hotel that the majority of the MC club is staying and it was packed as expected. Tons of LEO presence as well. The town was as quiet as it normally is and people are out and about like usual. Lets see what happens tonight when it is expected to get active.

Bikers scare me, I felt way more comfortable after trading in my Harley for a Suzuki Boulevard ;)

Funny story, I was walking on Melrose Blvd. with the Pres of a well known club while his wife was shopping in a store. We went in to put an end to her spending :p and this guy walks up to the wife and says.........I like that vest............where can I get one of those :p She just stared at him for a minute and said......."you can't" :D

Just curious, I live in SD and have never seen this club out any about. I drive about 50k miles a year all throught SD and to this day have not. Is the club for real or a made up club for TV? I could have swore I've seen that SandMan guy on some older 90's war movies. I have a friend that works with a hollywood prop company and he stated that American Pickers, Storage Hunters, and a few others were all fake. Just curious...

so the weekend came and went, basically very smooth with no "incidents".

In fact, the mongols are PO'd at the various agencies and are now suing for harrasment.

i dont have a problem with bikers.........I get to tune a bunch of harleys on my dyno so its all good for me. but i never understood the "bad ass tough guy" look. tats, long greasy hair, dirty jeans and leather, the typical biker steroetype stuff. Seems to me people are quick to judge and if you look like a scumbag or a criminal............

It's hard not to fall into that "look" when you ride with others who have "the look"
I did it..........and after awhile I looked at everybody else who "dressed up" before they rode and it felt like I was putting on a costume:p
I'm terminally unhip now and love every minute of it:D

He hit a group of them (30-40) on the way home just outside of barstow being followed by a few trucks with bikes and ice chest in them. They pissed some guy off in a jeep and then all hell broke. They started trying to push each other off the road and it made everyone following slow down to 15mph. When the arms started coming out the window I thought for sure bullets were going to be flying. Lasted for a few minutes and the jeep took off.

They rolled passed us when we were at the McDonalds on the other west side of the 15. Pack mentality for sure. Jeep guy is lucky they didn't take it further than it sounds like they did.
