Not a big deal, Ca sun, and I've had two on my face.

Are you a model? scaring was minimal, I had it done on the crease between my nose and cheek so not a flat area and you can't tell.

My Mom had it done many years ago, nose and ear. She was very fair skinned, and spent years in the sun watching baseball, waterpolo and untold weekends at swim meets. She was mid 50's at the time, and healed up quick with very slight scarring.

As a white boy I've been dealing with skin cancer for 25 years now. Growing up in the south and weeks on end in Daytona Beach with just Tropicana and baby oil it took its toll. That along with farming in the Tennessee fields for hours on end in the summer topped it off. There was no sunscreen back then and I deal with it today.
Have hade 20+ cancerous cut out of me over the last 25 years. Much more detailed proceedure that takes it all out but a long procedure
This was from my scalp some 10 years ago and took about 5 hours. 32 staples and it looks worse than what it was as you don't have that much skin up there to staple back to gether thus the S shape.
You'll be fine...

Staples in the head suck...both going in and coming out. One of the reasons I don't shave my head, looks like centipedes crossing a road map now.

Inside my left ear about 20 years ago. Most likely from sun through the car window while driving. They cut and keep checking margins and keep cutting until they get the margins they want. It worked well for me. The worst part was hearing everything they were doing because of the location of the surgery.

It heals, sometimes better than others.
scars add character
Well, dunno about character, but they all have stories 🤣
I was going to add, adding antibiotic ointment when healing helps the scars fade. I have some that doing that really helped when the doctor told me to do that.

I had a hard white deal on my RT ear, had it done and turned out just fine ….

The Doc was really cool! We talked the entire time during the procedure!

Good Luck !

As for the healing - Couldn’t get it wet for 2 weeks, had a big bandage on my ear. Wasn’t an issue for me! They gave me extra bandages, tape and a moisturizer packets. They wanted to keep it from drying out and getting a crust.
Showering was tricky at 1st - got easier after you kinda figure things out.

I had the procedure done and the next day went to my nephews graduation @ UCLA

I’m going in on the 5th for melanoma on my back. Dr wants to put me under anesthesia.

I saw a news story last week about the reporter that had the same thing. That made me think of the spot on my ear. I thought it was just scar tissue from getting stabbed in the ear with a plastic fork (teenage boys are idiots). But know I’m thinking the dermatologist missed it. I’ll have to ask the surgeon about it.

Thanks for the input everyone.
Yup, you'll be fine. I've had that procedure a few times now on head, ears, and shoulders. First day recovery usually feels like a lot of pressure at the spot, then it just kinda goes away. Keep it clean and take the antibiotics.

I've had it a couple of times face and legs, plus cut and stitch on the back! Hundreds of freeze offs and right now three basal cell on my legs, biopsy and then more digging!
Just remember Scars are like Tattoo's but with better stories 😎

There is a spot radiation option to surgery. My wife had it done on her nose. Worked great.

I’ve had it done several times, the worst was on my left temple. It looked like about a dime sized spot that they were going after but by the time they were done they had removed a panel that was about 2” by 3”. It was like have a face lift on one side of my face. They did a great job stitching me up with almost no scarring.
The fun/scary part is when the doctor nicked the temporal artery (or some other significant plumbing) during the surgery. It shot blood all over him and the nurse and they were in a bit of a panic trying to get it stitched and sealed.
Took a few minutes to patch that but it all worked out fine.

Had mine done on my left cheek. I asked to watch since stuff like that doesn’t bother me.

They’re gonna make a “taco” cut, clean it out,
Check results of sample, then if clean sew you up.

Not a biggie. My scar is no big deal.

My mom had the whole top of her nose removed, then they cut a section out of her neck to rebuild the nose. You can’t even tell it was done and she got a small facelift no charge.

It really depends on how much they have to take out, Had Basil Cell Carcinoma on the right side of my face. Three burns before they got it all. Ended up being the size of a fifty-cent piece. Make sure you know how they are going to close it before the procedure. Follow the doctor's directions to a tee, regarding the healing process. Good luck.

@azsunfun oddly enough, I had this done for the first time today on the top of my head. Key takeaways:

Quick needle stabbed into head to numb the area
Cut out the spot (took all of 1 minute)
Cauterized briefly and then taped gauze on it
Laid on the bed for about 10 minutes until the doc came in and said goods news, we got all of it
Pulled the gauze and began stitching it up
Cauterized some more (apparently top the head likes to squirt blood)
Tightened up the stitches up and put a compression wrap on

Orders are to leave it covered for 2 days, then I can wash it with gentle soap. Apply vaseline (aquaphor ointment provided) everyday for a month, leaving uncovered. Stitches come out in 2 weeks. 10 day supply of antibiotics required as well.

All in all it was a painless deal but the compression wrap makes me look like an accident victim out of a low budget movie. I'll be working from home until that comes off. Also, the smell of burnt flesh is present either stuck in the nose hairs or from the top of my head and I'm not a huge fan but not that bad.

So i didn’t do MOHs, general surgery to cut a chunk out of my back. They don’t want to mess around with Melanoma.
Anesthesia is fantastic. 🙃

One of my SILs is going through the Gentle Cure (https://www.gentlecure.com/) process now for Basel on her face. She was terrified of going through the conventional surgery. Halfway through an 8 week schedule. I don't have the patience for that shit.

Had melanoma removed from my nose a year ago.

They took a skin graft from my neck. It healed up ok. There’s some discoloration and the skin feels different but beats the alternative. 💀
