Looking at this one. Thought Id check before buying it.

Or this does 200 gallons vs 300 for the double.

That is more or less the one I have. By the conversion kit that flips the media to the outside of the tubes and you will get 10 times the amount of water.

That's the kit I would buy. Have seen a few used kits on Facebook Marketplace.

I was looking at this one too. However, I do like the idea of it having a tap water bypass for initial rinsing etc. Then switch over to clean for final rinse.

Mine is plumbed to my house with 2 valves on it.. First valve shuts the water off to the entire system.. second valve shuts it off to the filters.. If both valves are on it will run through the filters.. If I turn the valve off to the filters it bypasses them and runs normal water..

The camper isnt bad to wash but trying to dry it is a pain plus the solar panels like to be clear and clean.

I think I would wash stuff normally then hook it up just for the rinse and be done

can you explain this more? I was about to purchase that same set-up.
I figure the $450 investment and then paying my kids $10 a truck/SUV will work out in the long run compared to $40 car washes. And I don't tip the kids.

I have this one at home and it works great! About 900 gallons between resin replacements.

This is what I do

Use the splitter w/ a ball valve built in
You have an inlet side and a outlet side
I have a RV hose pressure regulator on the inlet side of the Splitter regs to 40-50 psi.

Also you want to use a pressure washer to slow down the gallons per minute - mine is a cheap Ele Ryobi under 2 gallons/min

You the bring beer and I‘ll watch. 😁

Hey remember Jeff Wescott and that boat we looked at a while back? I guess he's grown into quite the company. He was grateful enough to do a one off rock slider job for my f350. His work in on a different level.

Washing steps

Wash like normal I use my PW

Wet
Soap I use a foam cannon on the PW
Use a mitt for a hand scrub
Rinse all soap off with non filter water

Use DI as a final rinse - you can see the hard water & any soap residue wash off and the DI water beads up

Leaf blower to dry & Don’t roll down windows for a few hours

I totally understand that part, plumbing a bypass is normal but I wasn't understanding your comment:

"flips the media to the outside of the tubes and you will get 10 times the amount of water"

By media do you mean water flow? Is the 10x you're talking about just because you aren't always using all filtered during a wash? Not 10X the amount of filtered water.

When you originally buy the kit they put the media in the tube.. the conversion kit the media is in the actual big plastic containers..

I got the same setup as RD just not mounted to the wall…kept mine mobile so I could move it around. Pretty much the same plumbing just skinned slightly different. Perfect setup for what I do here at home…the resin has got a little pricey though and not many competitive sources but still worth it.

I'd like to get the mobile set up.

I got the exact one the OP posted with wheels…then plumbed it with 3/4 PVC...short hose to the bib with the valve switcheroo. Once the original cartridges went out I converted to the same dealio DLC posted on post #4.

Awesome. Good idea to plumb bypass into house and just have this one mounted on wall. Thats what I want.

If you can tie into a soft water line that would help in The DI filtering

Not sure thats a very good idea. Soft water is soft to the skin due to salt filtration. Basically soft water is the encapsulation of calcium with salt…the salt keeps the calcium from bonding to surfaces so it runs down the drain instead. I’m really not sure what the outcome of running soft water through a DI setup will do…I think it would most likely end with the salt/calcium falling out of solution and fouling out the resin prematurely. Curious… @RiverDave are you on soft water too and if so, what kinda run time are you getting out of yours?

In Havasu run mine thru my 2 pre filters & soft water and it’s been great for 2 years,

I also run my 1,000 mister system through the soft water side.

I’ll have to do some reading to make sure.

Update -
We use potassium in our soft water system @ the Hava house - Google doesn’t have much unless you like fish tanks….

The one I just bought from Wallntz (great guy) has 2 carbon pre-filters he rigged up. Apparently thats the way to go to reduce chlorine from getting to the resin in addition to the conversion kit they sell for it and I have thanks to wallnutz.

Believe it or not there’s lots of info on window cleaner and auto detailers forums about this crap. I ordered new resin and am anxious to try it all out.

Ya, Potassium or Salt, just a different way to skin a cat for enviro reasons.
Chlorine on the other hand…don't get me started...well versed.
Window Cleaners / Car Detailers are using straight RO. Run the RO into a tank on truck and spray for final rinse...same as the multi skinned cat spoken above.
All systems are affective but the duration/longevity vary.
As for the Chlorine issue…charcoal/carbon filtration is an effective way to not only rid it from water but also the air…then again…the filtration process duration will vary depending upon the apparatus used.

With all the pre filters ahead of the DI tanks, what is the cost, I get 6 months out of my DI tank straight out of the hose bib, using it for final rinse washing 5 cars a week, and a tank swap is $60. No idea gallons, just when the light turns red I swap it out.

In the desert I do under stand a course filter for sediment.

10 bucks a month!?! Who cares!! I’d stay on that program for as long as one can!

Hey thanks for the kind words. Actually I used one charcoal filter and one sediment filter. At the beginning of the plandemic it was hard to find the charcoal filters, so it might of had two sediment filters in there. I read that taking the chlorine out helped, but getting as much of the calcium out was good too. Our water out of the spicket could be as high as 680 ppm here in Phoenix.

I've thought about this for cleaning solar panels as our well water is crazy hard. Are you guys running this with small pressure washers or just city water pressure? If so, any experience with setups including swivel guns would be great to see.

I use a 1600 psi 1.5 gal a minute Ryobi pressure washer for basic washing. It works well with a foam cannon and for rinsing. If I need something with a little more psi I have a 5000 psi gas rig, but I don't use the DI with it.

Dave how many gallons of DI Water do you get out of your CR Spotless Filters in Havasu? I measured the water at our Havasu place for solids and it was 720ppm. I talked to CR and they said I would only get approx 150 gallons of 0ppm water before I’d need to recharge the resin.

I use an electric ryobi PW - 2000 psi 1.2 gpm

This controls & reduces the water flow

What is the Obsessed Garage solution?
It’s basically a guy with legitimate OCD who tests products in different categories and configurations to come up with the best solution possible. Mostly centered around the garage. It’s constantly evolving as new stuff comes out.
