As it is hotter than hell today in Phoenix and the southwest, I am thinking of installing some sort of misting system on the Hallett to make the summer a little cooler. There are a few systems available commercially or I could put one together myself. Has anyone here tried this with good results? Seems like a good idea to me. Lets hear any results good or bad.

Thanks, Steve

Just drive really fast.

I don't know if I'd want to spray any more water to calcify all over a pretty boat.

If you're on body of fresh water, why not just stop and take a swim or find a nice beach and hang out in the water next to the boat?

To me it seems like trying to figure out what kind of food to bring to a buffet.

I can't think of a way the install would look very clean. I'd just take more water breaks

If it was me I'd run it through the Bimini., I have seen a few boats with them integrated though. Seems like it would make a hell of a mess to me.

Unless you have elderly or handicapped folks that cant cool down, for the life of me I cant ever see doing this.

One jump in the river to get wet last me 20 minutes. If you have a cuddy put AC in it if you have to.

Are they zip tied on or actually in the tubing of the Bimini?

There is a company in Havasu "Mohave Mist" that advertises boat misting systems. Contact Sam at 928-302-3500. He just installed an awesome stainless Mister & Fogger System at my house.

If it weren't for the water skiing thread, the gearvendors overdrive, boschmas gasser thread and 1 or 2 others that are pretty Good as well as Bilgie and 460's posts I'd lose all hope in this site. :D:D

The ones on toons were inside the Bimini. I saw an essex deck that had little misters just sticking through the fiberglass. Mbrown' little fish boat has them integrated into the hard top and I think the midnight express did as well, but don't quote me on that.

I think using straight river water could be a big health mistake. Now if your going to use potable water then I could see this being a cool idea.

One thing is for sure, it's going to make a mess over time.

Zep spray bottles work just fine ... keep 'em full of lake water for everyone, then use that water to wipe down with ... :thumbsup

Ideally, the trick would be to use a high pressure system (1000 psi) vs a low pressure system (50-80 psi) so you don't get the water drip. Doing that on a boat would be rather difficult.

Here is what I was thinking. I saw something similar on a golf cart a few day ago.

http://www.mist-er-comfort.com/marine-misting-systems-2/

180 psi pump that comes with this kit really isn't going to get the job done. You need to be in the 800+ psi range... to be effective you really need to saturate the air and somewhat trap the mist long enough for it to drop the temp and that will be tough if there is any light breeze etc...

I think at high speeds we could still have an atomizing issue. Might need a 10,000 psi and have a number of different jets to use based on heat and humidity. Bring a drill and some bits to in case we need to get crazy.

I had thought about the distilled water to keep down the mess. The system I was looking at looked like a pretty clean install with the bars mounted on the bimini. The plumbing would be a pain in the ass as the top must come down when trailering and going fast. I was hoping someone had used this type of system and had feedback.

A wet towel on your seat works better IMOP I like wearing long sleeve shirts and keep them wet.

Hudson sprayer with distelled water? I have one I use for out door EZ up events. Or Big 5 sell portable misters for about $15. I use the portable ones on the Harley.
