Hey All,

I did a walk through of my property being built today and I’m pretty sure I’m missing my sewer connection for my 3rd toilet.

Shouldn’t there be a three inch pipe sticking out for sewer.

The other 2 bathrooms have it.

I left a message for my contractor am I going crazy.

Lol. Hopefully they just poured over it.

Are the other 2 stubbed up with foam around?

I have seen that a few times when walking through builds around me. Standing there scratching my head recognizing the spot as a bath/toilet area and suddenly crack the floor on my next step.

I tried stomping on where it should be no go.

Looking at pre pour photos there is no pipe for toilet.

In the pic

Yellow is for the hallway bathroom

Red arrow is where one should be the pipes next to it is for the washer and bathroom sink

Crappy pic but it looks like a 3" buy the laundry. Maybe it got broke off and surprisingly the concrete guys said nothing. Not a hard fix no matter what. Do not pay for it. Totally contractors fault. Just my opinion, others may disagree.
If they have to fix it, make sure they vent it properly.

I walked my build during the plumbing and slab prep and found the laundrey drain MIA. Contractor had his plumber in within hours to correct it since the pour was the next morning.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do that. Isn’t that something that gets inspected by city before pour?

So what’s the fix if they did miss it?

Cut the concrete, dig a trench, tap into other bathroom

Sounds really invasive. Will I have any problems down the line with foundation?

Inspectors typically make sure (lol) that what work was done is to code..... should be to the plans too.... you know they catch anything EXTRA you pop in during construction. Short answer yes they should have caught it. IMO

That is the fix......foundation problems are possible.... I would make sure they "patch" it correctly - whatever that is....to code!

Measure 12" off the wall at the toilet location and hit the slab with a hammer to check if it got buried. If it's buried 3/4" deep or so you have to hit it firmly . That tall piece of vent pipe that the framers left and bent outside the wall line with the block line represents the height the DWV system is filled with water during inspection. The fact the system is full of water and not leaking is all the inspector will look at, not pull out the floor plan and start measuring the plumber's layout of the DWV. Contractor will make plumber fix if needed and unless it was supposed to be a polished or stained concrete floor it'll be fine , shit happens ....--

I would assume that one pipe is the lav waste, and the other is the toilet vent. Most likely there’s a flange under the concrete that will need to be chipped up and extended up. Really not too big of a deal.

The tall pipe is their stand pipe for testing. Needs to hold 10’ of head pressure.

Mine was in the middle of a wall when I walked it. Also found a lack of water supply to the kitchen island.

What’s the point of a powder bath ( 1/2 bath) across the hall from a hall bath ( full bath) I don’t get it. It’s not like the full bath is a jack & jill or Jr master. I really don’t get it

So you don't have to force your guests to deal with your kids' disgusting bathroom? Just a thought.

Gee whiz. The member is spending a ton of money and building what hopefully is his dream home. He just wanted to ask about a potentially serious problem with the plumbing work, not to have his layout ridiculed. Give the guy a break.

There is a very good chance that your washing machine will push back into that sink . Laundry should have been cut in under that lavatory sink waste .

When you say that are you talking about the washer trap should enter lower than the sink trap?

Thanks for the recommendation. I’m not in the trades so I’ll talk to my contractor about the concerns.

Yes. These new washers dump shit ton at a time and could push back on that sink. I am a plumbing contractor and have been for 28 years. So I have seen this happen before.

AZ plumbing code is VERY lenient, but this doesn’t fly in Oregon, Washington, and many other states.

I agree. Did a sink uphill from a washer and it backflow down up hill. Rather than tear everything back apart I put a check valve in

I agree. That's a short piece of pipe for the washer waste line. I like a longer 2" pipe for the washer drain. It sort of acts as a reservoir for the washer dump. It would be a pretty easy fix if you did it now. Lower the washer santee below the lav sink one. Good call!

That lav is going to flood. That is piss poor plumbing!

This was his response when I asked him about it.

“No”
