Morning. Been up and after it for a while now. Guess I’ll head over to the trailer brands thread and study up. Sold my four place open trailer this morning so now I either go find a new enclosed one or we don’t travel to ride sleds I guess.

Just got back in town where I have service. He was the one making jokes with the nurses and stuff in the ER. I stayed with him in the hospital from 10 PM friday night till 3 PM saturday. Surgery was done and over with around noon yesterday. Everything went great and he got super super lucky. Although all the tendons were showing there was very minimal damage. All they had to do was clean it up and get it closed up. He has 2 drain tubes hanging out that will have to be removed but all is good and well. He came back to the party for the pig roast and had a few beers and ate and they headed home. I think the recovery time is about 4 weeks if all goes well. He has felling in his hand still and everything works like it should. The wound was right above his elbow on the backside of his arm. He is one very lucky guy. 1/4 of an inch more and it would have been a totally different story

Eldest daughter got hired for her first post-college job as an archaeologist in Grants, NM. Grandpa and grandma helped her get a car, and she asked me to help sticker it up before she left today. She’s happy with the final product, especially the WI-based sports theme on the passenger side.

She has always marched to her own drum, and I’m proud she’s not afraid to go out and do what she loves.

Doesn’t make me feel any less old...

My wife’s 1968 Corvair. This got put on the back burner when I got the boat. So far it’s bored and stroked from 164 CID (2.7L) to 180 CID (3.0L). Will be screwcharged and EFI. Working on adapting 2005 Mustang brakes on it, including 17” wheels. Should be a cool little hot rod when complete. They only weigh about 2500 lbs stock, coupled with 4-wheel independent suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes, the fun factor in the turns should be high.

Who is she working for in Grants?
Some contractor dig outfit; don’t know if they’re from the area or just contracted for a dig there.

She’ll be 8 days on (10 hour days) and 6 days off. I’m curious to see how that schedule works for her, especially in the heat.

She’s there March through June, then she’s coming home. Apparently there’s multiple shovel bum websites where she can continue working as a contractor and travel a bit. She’s getting a feel for if that’s how she wants to roll or work for a specific company continuously as she did while in school.

A guy who lived out here, just moved back to Illinois. He was working on a 68. He put it on a perimeter frame from an Olds I think, and then installed an LS3 from a junked Camaro. He had the floors roughed in when he left. Looked really good. The perimeter style frame sat just inside the factory rockers.

What EFI setup are you going to run, aftermarket, or modified OEM?

A modified OEM. It’s kinda what I do for a living...;)

She'll miss most of the heat if she is done in June. The altitude is gonna be tough though and the dry climate.

I grew up in the 4-corners area. That part of the country is archeology central.

She was out there all last summer in Ruidoso doing a work study under one of her professors so she was eager to go back and work for pay this time:).

I tried to get her to apply for the WIENERMOBILE job, but she wasn’t interested. (Whatever:rolleyes:). She’s trying to get some field experience so she’s relevant when she goes back to get her master’s degree.

If your daughter should happen to run into anything Atchison/Topeka, or AT/SF railroad, could you have her send a pic?

My Mom's great-grandfather was Kingman. He ran the line out through there and all the way to Barstow Ca. I have a few little items...My prize piece though, I use all the time. I have a 75# Hay Budden anvil that was stamped AT/SF, 1890. It just happened to come up on CraigsList a few years back. Cleaned it up and was pleasantly surprised.

I’ll pass along the request. No guarantees...

The anvil is cool!

Thanks! You never know...

...and everyone should have an anvil. An old one is cool, but railroad track ones work fine for most people. Problem is, everyone thinks they're a blacksmith now! Out here, can't touch a 75# for under a couple hundred. Like to get an old 2-250#, but will have to wait until the hipsters realize they aren't bladesmiths, or a roadtrip out past the Mississippi.

Ironically I use a short piece of rail as my “anvil” and I think it’s cool.

Happy Monday boys

Speaking of weather.... bad night for the folks in Nashville, TN

So far only 2 deaths reported from the tornado, but the destruction they cause is incredible...
[/QUOTE

Horrible situation in Nashville. Pray that they can help all those injured and no more deaths. Some of the early pictures coming out are amazingly devastating. Truly incredible.

Morning gang. Weather is supposed to be a little pear shaped today, but warming to near 60 by Sunday. Looks like spring may come eventually.

TGIF again. Interesting week at work that’s for sure. Apparently a coworker ( now ex coworker) put his hands around another coworkers neck and apparently was trying make a joke, but it went over like a fart in church and the zero tolerance policy came into play. I feel bad for him, but now a days you just can’t do that anymore.

We’ve had a few instances in the past where the cops have been called because of an threat somebody has made against others. My supervisor told me the comment might be made in jest, but you have to take it seriously.

Good grief I need a beer or twelve.

Congrats I guess!?

Yeah. I quit and within 15 minutes got myself a $2 an hour raise at a different place lol. But its only temporary until I find a job that I actually want

Mornin fellers.

Sent the eldest daughter to NM last weekend, middle daughter and her miniature Australian Shepard dog made the 5 hr trek home from college for spring break. House is active with 3 dogs hanging out. One move by anyone and all 3 are on alert.

Going to work in the garage on vehicular maintenance today and get outside for a bit.

Apparently it’s colder in WI than southern IL, this guy can’t handle being on the deck with the other dogs.

Morning. Took someone to her favorite steakhouse last night in celebration of her Bday tomorrow. Then stopped at the Elks Club and tried to put a hurtin' on the Jack Daniels bottle. Was a good night.
