They have land for an ocean front build as well as the dock build pictured. They were happy to see your pictures since they couldn’t get shit from the contractor as far as visual updates. So Thanks!

Actually not much had been happening on that build until last week

Morning gang. Much needed Chiropractor adjustment this morning was excruciatingly painful, but feeling much better now.

Anybody know much about 2000 series MTUs:cool:

Nope, but if you google this ---- the hull truth mtu 12v2000 marine
You can spend endless hours on the sportfishing / cruiser version of RDP where invariably somebody will point out "Have you tried a different prop ?" :p
For me at least, after time spent reading that forum, I've remembered why I sold my sport fishing boat 26 years ago and for a few months I'm over it.

WWRD. What Would Riggs Do.
:D

Hes busy looking at 44 sea rays... you know, over the hill boats. I want to be sure I can either shoot a roost clean over his canvas on autopilot, while drinking a cocktail and enjoying a brunch buffet on the rear deck.

Or if I go the sportfish route, at least we will have a flybridge to do cannonballs into the lake from.

Yes, I've spent a lot of time over there. I'm more of a 12v92 kinda guy. Lol

Some of the high power modern diesels scare me a bit. Problem is, the age of boats with 2 smoke Detroit's present a host of other issues.

Would seem we've been looking at the same era of used big boats. The prices sure look attractive, many features including electronics updated, but you always end up down in the engine room staring at those rather ancient 2 -stroke Detroit Diesels. Which of course were the big deal in those days --- Johnson & Towers and others building them to haul ass --- and often blow the fuck up, LOL

Part of my Army tour in the early 70's was spent in the Army's Navy in boats running 6-71's, often four of them. Of course these weren't Turbo'ed J&Ts, these were the ones designed to run forever --- and damn, they were solid --- and SLOW :(

So I'm sure you're finding, they're anything but economical, the Feds would love for you to trade them for Cats or Cummins, they're easily rebuilt without tearing your cabin floor out in order to get the engine(s) out, de-tuned or under-propped, they'll probably survive awhile longer and even if they show low hours, if they were just exercised occasionally in the slip, harbor booze cruises and not run at the proper RPMs regularly, they're probably ticking time bombs :(

I'm sure I overlooked something, but smoker DD's aside, I still can't help but see a lot of value in some of those mid to late 90's boats I see for sale. So long as I save out another 50% or more for REALITY, LOL o_O

These are neat. Also some advantage to staying under 50' for marina considerations.

And right there is a perfect example of the enticing "Price Bait" that causes me to spend hours perusing YachtWorld !!! For a 2006 too !!
thumbs up.png

Then you wander over to Dave's Fred Hall boat show report and compare to the prices for a new 30' twin outboard center console with 25% of the accessories of this Sunseeker and struggle to keep from falling out of your chair.

I've found it interesting at least in the So Cal used sportfisher market how there's far more deals on 50'+ for sale then 45-48's, "Marina Considerations" is I'm sure a lot of that and I want one my wife and I can handle.
My unofficial "Wife Approval" survey has shown, anything smaller than 40' doesn't have the salon and galley that makes her smile.

Happy Hunting :)

Ultimately, we would like to end up with a 60ish foot "forever" boat. (yeah, I know...I said forever and boat in the same sentence, like that wil EVER happen LOL)

The reality is I'm not sure I'm there yet. Given the fact that we are still somewhat tied to a busy schedule with work, kids, etc. a big slow boat doesn't give us the opportunity to take the trips we love to take.
A nice, fast, express would still allow us to cover some NM on a 2 week jaunt, and still give her plenty of room to nest. Hard to look away from the 48 Fountain, but they are somewhat cramped compared to the Baia, Pershing, or Sunseeker. In some ways I prefer the triple Cummins installation on the fountain, as the engines are more commonplace. The fuel economy of the 48EC is appealing as well.

I've read mixed opinions on the build quality of the Sunseekers and even the Pershings. The Baia is far more rare in the US, but they seem to have a good reputation.

Certainly not serious shopping yet.

But trying to target some boats.

55-65 Vikings
63 Baia / Pershing/ sunseeker

Very different boats for sure.

Actually Miki and I looked at a 55 Viking sport fish maybe 5 years ago, what we were told 55 is the magic number that 2 people can dock without any problems

When looking at bigger boats some ads will state, "Not for sale in US waters" or something to that effect
