Still trying to unload our Duramax Yukon since we only drive it once or twice a week now. I think the price is pretty solid and it's only listed here. Going to probably post on FB this week.

With that one gone I want to get into a mid size SUV when my daughter needs her SUV back.

Here are the wants/needs -

4x4
Seats 7
Captains chairs in 2nd row
Main thing is can it tow our Hallett 255 from the house to Windsor and back (couple miles each way)?

Anyone have one they love, that can handle the small amount of towing and has the other features?

I was doing this research.
The tow rating was the biggest issue.
Trying to find a mid-size with a 6k tow rating was difficult.

The foreign suv could do it, but the 100k price range hurt

Yeah not looking to get into another $80k + SUV. Trying to find something used in the $30k - $35k range.

How much you think a 255 Hallett weighs?

I have a friend with a large family that has a Kia Telluride and she really likes it. They're actually pretty cool looking. The only drawback is they make these stickers for them now, and I'd just be worried one of my buddies would drop one on mine without me knowing. 🤣

No idea.
I was shocked when I put my boat on a scale (half tanks all gear). It was around 7k

What about a baby Yukon aka the Arcadia or XT6? The seating 7 with captains chairs is where I see the issue, most mid size only have two seats in the third row

Probably about as much as my 260 Eliminator Eagle. I don't know the exact weight, but it wasn't much. Anything could have towed it. I'd say it was <4000 lbs.

Looking at the Acadia's as an option. It tows 4k with the V6. Also looking at Nissan Pathfinder, which has seating for 7 and tows 6k.

It seems like the one you're selling does exactly what you need the new one to do.
It does, just don't want the payment anymore for something we don't drive. Mid size should be less for insurance, registration, etc. Easier to park and clean too......lol.

I would buy a super clean 2011-2014 escalde, throw a tune, convertor/upgraded trans, maybe a blower and rock that baby as the tow pig. It will be able to do everything and you will still have money left over to invest!

The tellurides are really nice. My wife rode if our friend Kellie’s to San Diego while I took all the boys in the suburban. She said she wanted one 🙄

If you buy a GM cross over (Acadia, Traverse, Enclave) be sure the previous owner has been religious about oil changes. The V6 these come with are notorious for timing chain issues, and it is all related to poor maintenance.

If you can stand the looks and the 10+ year old technology, a used Lexuit GX460 should be on the list.

I have looked at your ad maybe forty times for my wife.... I have a 4Runner TRD Pro in white I would love to trade plus cash, but no third row option.

Some of the other trims have a 3rd row, I think the towing Capacity is like 5k if that is something you'd entertain.

We still are a family of 6 so need the 3rd row for sure.

Just as a reference, I tow my nordic to/from launch with a chevy trailblazer equivalent. Has the 5.3 and self leveling rear airbags. I don’t use it for OTR travel outside of LHC

That's good to know! If I ever need to tow outside of Havasu I have my F150 for that. Only time I have ever towed this boat any distance was when I picked it up in Parker and then drove to Havasu.

I went the other way. My 2020 Acadia (Denali pkg) was a little too small for us, so I traded up for a '24 Yukon in October. I special ordered the Acadia, specifically for the towing package, 3rd row, rear captain's seats, dual sunroof, and other amenities. Towed, launched & recovered my 22' Pontoon boat, no problem. Delivered in Dec. 2019. 27,500 miles. Religious servicing at GM Dealers. Car is like new. They're asking $29,000 which, coincidentally was exactly what they gave me in the trade. They initially had it at $34,000 but have lowered it twice. Shows me they might even drop lower. Call Jay @ Costa Mesa GMC and I'll guarantee he'll take care of you.

That's who I ordered my Yukon from. I will give him a call. Thanks!

The wife has a traverse. We love that thing! Can pile in a ton of kids and still have great rear cargo space. That said, I wouldnt ever think of hooking up anything bigger than a few jet skis to it. Nope!

Don’t do the Acadia, we’ve had so many problems with our 19’. it’s got less than 80k on it, trannys been rebuilt twice by the dealership, plus a number of other issues. research after the fact says the tranny issues are common. Minus all the problems we love the car, but we’re just sick of always dealing with it.

We’re eventually gonna get something else, I love the 4runners, but they are too utilitarian on the interior for my tastes. We really like the telluride and have another Kia that has always ran great. So that’ll probably be the one we go with.

5.7 Sequoia would be my choice for your stated needs, and if you wanted to get more budget friendly, the 1st gens with the 4.7 2UZ are CHEAP.

04-074.7 sequoia,
older , cheap to insure.
Pulled my chapparral deck like nothing.
2wd does fine at the boat ramps.

Huge fan of Sequoias, especially the 2UZ generation. It's just really tough to find one in good condition and really don't want something that old.

Looking to stay 2018 and newer for whatever we get. This won't just be a Havasu tow runner, it will be the wife's daily once our daughter gets her SUV back.

I think you already have the perfect suv for what you need. If you don’t like the payment, just sell it and get an earlier model with the 5.3.

Our friends have a traverse, and love it. Saved their lives in a really bad rollover so they bought another. When we visit, it reasonably holds 4 adults, 2 teens, and a 9 year old. I doubt it tows well, though.

In the old'n days, this SUV (in ford blue!) is what our family of 7 had to get around in while towing anything. 2 Sisters up front with Ma & Pa and 2 brothers and I in the back. Winters were a real bitch though!

My how far we have fallen...🤪

One thing to consider unless you are paying cash is what the actual difference in payment will be.

What’s the rate on the current Yukon compared to what’s available today.

You know where that Yukon has been and you know how nice it is.

Don’t pay 30k for a car that is 1/3 as nice.

Other thing to consider in the mid sized class of suv that we found, commonly the 3rd rows are only habitable if Grandma/Grandpa have the grand kids once a month. They don't feel like they were designed for regular use.

My sister in law has a Volkswagen Atlas that she enjoys

Accurate new car.rate used car rate much different.

As someone else said. Just get an older suburban or Tahoe.

I have a suburban and I'm driving a telluride while I rebuild my dirty max. Telluride has towed my ultra. It's an okay car. My suburban over it any day of the week. Telluride is great for work. It gets parked otherwise. Idk why these wives are so google over them. They are okay inside. My wife would never choose the Telluride over her suburban. She rather drive the dirty max over all of them though. So she might not be a good Guage. Most girls get intimidated by the long bed. She's not intimidated by long things.

Hahaha had to throw that in there.

Look into the 2020+ explorers, even the limited trim will be way below your budget. I can’t speak for the reliability, but we had one over a month as a rental and really enjoyed it.
