I have talked to several people who claim they could tell a difference in the Ride and Handling of their Vehicle after changing over to them. The mileage guarantee is not a huge factor for me, but I', interested if anyone in here has had experience with them and is worth the near 40% higher cost?

I had a whole 53' trailer full of them. I couldn't tell a difference in the ride and handling.

I'm 100% done with Michelin Super Sport tires after this last set. 6500 miles on these tires. As a comparison my previous set of Bridgestone Potenza tires I got 20k miles which I consider good for a 700hp/800ft lb sedan. I already ordered a set of potenza's to replace.

That’s like apples to oranges. The Michelin is super soft and will out perform that rock hard Bridgestone any day. Obviously they will last longer than the Michelin’s due to the harder rubber compounds. And by no means take this the wrong way, you can drive the piss out of the damn near fastest open jet boat in the world so I can imagine you are pretty talented behind the wheel of the car. Just from the wear patterns i see you drive it like you stole it!! Besides the camber wear, which you won’t ever be able to get rid of due to the nature of the car.

The potenza s-04 pole position is supposedly softer. 280 treadwear vs 300 for the PSS. By the way the front tires look great. Maybe im missing something

p.s. compliment appreciated :)

I run Michelin LTX 285/75R16 on my 10K lb. srw service truck. On the second set. I think I got 80K on the first set and replaced them early. Those ones experience every shitty shit section of LA roads. 65K on the second set and still have like 50% tread.
They are a quiet and smooth tire. Wear nice as well. I have Yokahoma tires of the same size on my F250 and they suck. Wear terrible and are loud. Next year I'll get Michelins on it and keep going with the old man truck look.
Even though the Michelins are more expensive it's cheaper to buy them. I would have to buy 2 sets of other brand tires to last as long as 1 set of Michelins last.

Funny thread. Your tire is the only 10”x10”...times 4 tires that connect your vehicle to the road. Best tire is the best. So the real question is...do you really need ALL of the traction available from the best tire.

I had them on my old '09 GMC 2500. They made the truck ride great on the highway. They generally are easier to balance, using less weight, than most any other tire I have ever run. Very few of them are ever out of round, as they check them at the factory (at least that is what the tire guys told me). For those reasons, I love them. However, their warrented 70K truck tire never got anywhere close to 70K for me. I suppose if you ran them exclusively on the highway, you would likely get many more miles, but running both highway and in town, I seldom got over 40K out of a set. For that reason, I quit buying them. I can get 40K out of several other brands for a much cheaper price.

Agree with above about easier to balance, and not out of round, as good and quiet of any tire I've tried. I do 90% of my driving on 2 lane mountain roads and both my 3/4 and one ton vans and f150, I only get 20 to 25,000 miles but the Michelin warranty at 60 or 70,000 MI covers about 70% of the replacement cost.

Absolutely worth the money. We've run the LTX M/S (now Defender) on everything, fleet trucks in our old life to farm trucks/delivery vehicles currently. When we buy a new ride, I can't wait till the OEM tires wear out so I can get my Michelins on there!
No joke, I'd guess that I've purchased 200 sets of those in my life with zero regrets.

Every truck I have bought for myself in the past 25 years have come with Goodyear OEM crap. 25,000 miles and they are junk. I usually put Michelin LTX on as replacements. Not very exciting looking but always been a good tire. My current truck I used Goodyear Kevlar for replacements (heard good things). Now at 30,000 I'm shitcanning them............hard as rocks and noisy. Looking at the Michelin defender at Costco. Not very good looking on a 20" wheel but........ I want to try Goodrich all terrain or all terrain KO but I think they would not look right on a 1/2 ton High Country. My wife runs those on her GMC Canyon, look are good and the tires work well but that truck as a more off road look than my High Country.

I agree with "The Looks" some times I'll see tires on some vehicles and think how good they look. Some do hit a Home Run for sure!!.

I just don't understand the Noise? I swear every crack in the Road it is like dropping off a curb, and if that is what it is no sense expecting a Miracle and just take a Step back and a step-down?
You have discovered why econo-boxes are cheap. Super basic McPherson strut suspension, and less R&D to refine things. I noticed when I was a dealer tech at toyota that some of the cheaper stuff (Echo, Corolla, Tercel, etc...) has what could best be described as minor tire/wheel bearing noise, but could not be changed or cured with new tires and/or wheel bearings or doing any manner of anything to the brakes. I think the problem has to do with relatively lightweight corner group components that simply can't effectively absorb/cancel out the normal harmonics that occur. Getting into the heavier cars, or multipoint suspension systems with a whole lot more rubber bushings seems to not be affected.

You'll never make a cheap hyundai ride like cadillac...ain't gonna happen.

Although, I would check the struts...some Hyundai (and kia and GM) struts have a tendency to get to wear deposit particulates in the shock oil, and if they're fully extended (like put on a hoist) tend to stick that way as the wear particles migrate to where they can't be tolerated....sometimes they break free but get real sticky after that.

I’ve liked the ride better of every truck and car after switching to Michelins.

I do not understand the quiet on your PU and Noisy on the Honda? I assume the Tire Models are different for the two?
Different tire models. Since the OEM Honda Accord Michelin tire has been discontinued, I’ll have to switch to a different model at next set. We’ll see if another tire is quieter on the Accord.

Got through lots of different things on vehicles and at this point in life, I buy Michelin. I've had several vehicles that you couldn't keep tires balanced on to save your live and Michelin was by far the best. They are round and stay that way. Incredibly rare to develop bubbles or change shape. I am more than willing to spend a few dollars more (watch for sales - the difference is almost nominal at that point) and then not worry about them until time to replace. The occasional pressure check and rotation and ignore. Across multiple vehicles they have been some of the quietest and best riding I have owned. I have Goodyear kevlar on the F150 and am very unimpressed. The explorer was bought with a brand new set of dealer installed Uniroyal tiger paws, talk about garbage...... When the wife got hit in the other explorer it was totaled. My 3 month old Michelins went away with it. Virtually the identical vehicle was the replacement with the tiger paws. Talk about a difference.........

On a cheap beater, tires will only make a minor difference. As lbhsbz said, you are primarily limited by the vehicle, not the tire. Think weakest link. That said I would consider better tires as every bit helps and also there is the reliability and stability is worth something. I don't want to be changing tires on the side of the road at rush hour. I also want them to stay balances and round.

Michelins gave a better ride to two of our prior 1500 Suburbans. I was told it was the side wall construction of the Michelins that made the difference. Anyway, yes they seemed to improve the ride. These Suburbans were used 90% for highway driving.

Only passenger tire I will buy.

My mom just cheaped out and replaced her old michelins with good years. I had no idea but got in the car to drive it one day and told her the rear hatch was open or something because of the road noise.

Nope, I got new tires and didn't get what you told me.

What are the date codes? Very simple to look at. I change tires by date code because I have extra vehicles and don't drive much. If more than 6 years old I change. I have used M tires and have been satisfied. However, do your due diligence because some of their tires are rated better than lower level M tires. Good luck.

Cheers, Steve

They make the best snow/ice tires out. We drive my truck over real mountain passes and encounter both snow and ice.

I have run them on 2 different dually trucks for years. I did cheap out and put Bridgestones on one of my trucks about 5 yrs ago. Not good. Wouldn't stay balanced, not great in snow or heavy rain. Both trucks are 4 WD. Also run Michelins all weather on 2020 & 2018 Subaru STI that drives over mountain road every work day (Angeles Forest Hwy and Angeles Crest) These out perform the P Zero by far and are about the same in price. They don't last long but are great tires. High mileage tires in the mountains are crap no matter what brand.....unless you drive like a old lady.

Are any members on here running the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 ? I love the PS4 on my Camaro, but my wife really doesn't need to keep running these uber-expensive Dunlop Sport Maxx summer rubber on her Audi SQ5 that can barely make it to 14K miles. Finally now I've got a couple of other options for the 21" wheels she's running in All Season.

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 --- Tire Rack thought these made a great track all season, but didn't rank all that great on the road due to noise and ride comfort being rated lower than the competition.

Michelin Primacy Grand Touring --- Had a really decent rating as a grand touring tire, but not ranked high for performance.

And one new Continental performance all season I can't find any reviews or ratings on.

I find plenty of summer high performance tires, but we won't be gaining in mileage or wet handling. ( Yeah, it's So Cal, who needs rain tires ? )🌂

Put Michelin Defenders on our 4x Tundra last time around. Hands down an order of magnitude better than the Goodyears I had been running previously. Stout, low noise and smooth as can be at highway (+) speeds.

Well, I appreciate all your Input. I can see after reading the other thread about $10,000.00 Over Sticker I am going to put Michelins or Possibly something comparable and wait out these "Whore House Prices. The pluses outweigh the incredible prices for now.

IMO, Hang On for a Memorable Next Year.
