Speaking of the new Commiefornia gas tax, the new super port in Mexico will be busier than ever now as fueling up will be far more cost effective to do so south of the boarder and ship through Arizona to the states. This should definitely be more cost effective than any other port in Commiefornia. I wonder if Brownstain thought about that? I doubt it. Long Beach and San Fran could feel a huge impact, if so. Portland and Seatle will see a huge increase in shipping IMO. Comedy. This is going to backfire. Wait and see. Logistics guys arw super savy and are probably one atep ahead already. Hopefully, it will bring some prosperity to Mexico.

Are you talking the trucking part of it or shipping. Ships fuel with red dye or heavy fuel neither should be increased based on the road tax no?

Won't matter imo. When the whole dpf no idle crap started the ca ports required ships to use shore power. They used to run diesel gens to power the ship In port and it's red dye. Once 25 miles out they switch to bunker fuel.

Where is this super port? Manzanillo?

.... looked it up. Not too far from Manzanillo (closer to Ixtapa).
It looks like goods going to California and north will come into the US through AZ. Everything else will come in through Texas.
On the map, it's surprising that Laredo TX is not as far as I thought it was from this new port.

I went to a meeting (Ted Cruz hosted) on this when I lived in San Antonio and posted a link to the presentation and slides here once.
nearly all of the goods coming from China, Japan, and other westpac countries that are going east of the rockies will eventually be routed thru Lazaro Cardenes. There are new rail lines going in Mexico and huge spec warehouses in SA and up hwy 35. They expect to take much of the cargo traffic from Los Angeles/ long beach.
They had a little setback when the cartels took over the unions building the port until the military went in and fixed that situation

The same shit was proposed 20-ish years ago for the port at Ensenada. Politician turned president Fox was a huge backer.

Big news, was gonna disrupt the US shipping industry blah blah

Then the typical graft and corruption took root and that shit went nowhere.

Cars built in Mexico and shipped to the US have been revealed to have drug stashes in them.

Can you imagine what kind of shit is going to happen when the cartels see money trains of cargo containers carrying goods being trucked long distances overland?

I'll believe this "disrupt the industry" shit when I see it.

After Ensenada then it was the Super Port at San Quintin that Hyundai was going to build. Every 5 years or so they dream up a new idea. I used to work for Sealand and we had to move containers with an armed escort in Manzanillo when leaving the port.

Red dye is no more for marine fuels due to the new gas tax. Marine diesel went up 30 cents a gallon Day before yesterday [emoji849]

I use BNX and they are thinking it will change things. Definitely will impact Portland and Seattle.

I've been to Manzanillo..... and seen all the security guys around the port there.
When you say armed -- I can confirm that they have heavy duty equipment to make sure the containers get away from the port.

Our containers(mainly Sony electronics at the time) moved with a 2 vehicle armed escort from the port to the warehouse. Our responsibility for the cargo ended once the warehouse signed for the container. Other than that it wasn't a bad place to be assigned as a single guy. I surfed Pascuales all the time, and had a company paid beachfront condo in Las Hadas.

You don't think there's a cartel working the docks in California and BC right now?

Sure, we even have train bandits all over Ca. But LE isn't nearly as beholden to them here as down there.
