I keep showing this to my 19 year old son... He is studying towards engineering or architecture. It seems like a fantastic way to go.

Once you put an application in, always follow up. Keep trying. we just interviewed for a carpenter position with an emphasis on concrete work.

I think the apprentice program is 5 years(?) unless you F up, you have a job at the end as a Journeyman. the benny's are good, they changed the CAL PERS retirement for new hires, THANKS TO UNCLE JERRY! Not sure about benny's for the apprentice's.

Thanks for the heads up, I am a state licensed electrician :thumbsup

Will do, I went through the apprenticeship program, been in the trade 14 or 15 years now. This would be great, I am tired of jumping from job to job in construction! Do they hire out of state? Some municipalities require a Ca state drivers license at the time of interview. I live in Vegas, but I have a California JW license.

Somebodies kid needs to jump on this!!

Perfect for the person who wants a career that pays well with good bennies, that is mechanically inclined and not big on sitting in a class for 40 hours a week for 4-6 years.

Hell if my industry keeps the way its going, I may sign up.

The link says they get pay advancements when they have 910 hrs of training. 4 year program. I did the same thing for my trade 30 years ago. Best thing I ever did.

MWD is a great company to work for! My dad retired from the Weymouth plant, and my uncle from the district office in LA. I have several friends and relatives that still work at MWD.

Yes, she just lives a few miles from me in FV. Didn't even hear about her retirement, but that has become pretty typical of a lot of the MWD people. here one day & gone the next. No parties, nothing. some don't even show up on their last day. The best is when they get a co worker to walk in on their manager & they drop their badge & keys on the managers desk, it's the best when you get to see the look on the Managers face o_O.

That doesn’t make the job sound to enticing if that’s the way people leave. 🤣

It just depends on your Manager. But then again, a lot of the workers let it be know that they are retiring, but don't want any party or hoopla. They just bow out, and move on. Also, a lot of the retiree's move out of state, so they very rarely come back to visit, such was the case when I started many moons ago. Hell, when I started the Superintendent made it a point to introduce me to the retiree's, as the FNG. Some of these guy's were old enough, they probably worked on the CRA. those guys were cool to talk too. :)
