Had my right one done on Aug 23 in at around 9am home the same day. Still have some thigh pain but the hip pain is gone. Been going to the driving range a few days a week. Overall it's been a great experience. Can't say enough good things about my surgeon Dr. Lee (Kaiser). He took one look at my x-ray and said "your hip is horrible" to which I said yes I know. He repeated that right before I went to OR and after he said that he had to chip out an inch of bone from my pelvis in order to do the implant. I can now walk normally. Everything is easier. I have said that before surgery my life was one big workaround. On the list to get the left one done, should happen in the spring.

wife had total robotic hip replacement through UC Davis Sacto thirty days ago.everyone recovers differently.she is now finally getting around without walker and ussing cane.First week was pretty bad and oxycodone was required,then tremadoll the second week

No he said it's a 45 min surgery. But the lay up for healing and the the therapy is long. I completely tore it. No more dancing banda and line dancing for me. I learned my lesson.

That happened to my step Dad. They actually had to go back in and take the hip out. He went 3 months without any hip. So I'm well aware what can go wrong.

I had meniscus surgery 2 years ago. It was a small tear. No PT. I was going up and down my stairs the same day. Probably not to smart but I played golf 4 weeks later.

I completely separated the inside of mine. He said he has to drill and re attach it. That has to set and heal. He doesn't want it to tear since he'll stretch it out again. I guess it shrunk. Can't be any more painful than when I snap it. Sounded like a branch breaking.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. My co-worker did double hip and was back to playing tennis in no time

Double hip replacement, Up and walking on them in the hospital same day. From walker, to cane, to walking on my own within the first week.
10-outa-10 would do again.

Little over 3 years ago for me.
Mine wouldn’t dislocate because of bone spur growth.
He had to cut the femur off, fold my leg over out of the way, and then dremel/ chip the ball out of the pelvic socket. Then grind off bone spurs before boring out the socket for the liner.
He had to mix and match parts to get everything right.
I did not leave the hospital the same day.
I left the next day late morning.
Walker for a week at least, then a cane for a couple weeks. It was a big milestone just walking without support. I did the at home therapist program, like 3 times a week for a while.

Not everyone walks out the same day, so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t go that way.
Hip replacements rank like #2 in life improvement surgeries so it’ll be awesome even if it takes a while to recover.

I've already been told I will not be going home the same day, and I'm good with that. The Doctor said it's usually out patient surgery but I'm considered a little bit of a high risk so he wants to keep me overnight.
Like you said, I'm hoping this improves my quality of life dramatically, but I try not to get too overly optimistic at this point.

Honestly, for the first 2-3 weeks afterwards I questioned my decision to do it. I questioned my surgeon choice, and his procedure.
It hurt, and I was afraid to trust it completely.
But after a while it became clear that it was a vast improvement. Like way better.

My cousin had a full knee replacement done about 4 weeks ago in Flagstaff. Doc said she was a prime candidate for it. Left with a walker after a few hours. She is in PT 3 days a week and still a little pain.

I’ll admit, the third day I was so swollen and immobilized trying to leave the hospital I really thought I’d made a mistake doing them both.

Looking back that was a 36hr concern. I live alone, but once I knew how to get myself out of bed on my own I was more or less home free.

My mom stayed with me the first few nights just to ensure food was made and I wasn’t falling down in the shower.

Also, I specifically found a Dr who could do them from the front, rather than the rear (everyone go ahead and insert your Grads joke here) I’m mid 40’s and didn’t want any ongoing restrictions in movement based on the surgical method.

Just saw we thought, nothing there
