I found this place by accident a few months back. Meant to post about it, but kept forgetting. I'm gonna head over today, so........................

Most bad azz hardware store EVER!!!! If you like to build shit and work with your hands, you'll be like a kid in candy store.

Every single time, I mean every single time I go to Marine Industries West I have to stop there. Hands down the best hardware store out there.

I basically go there everyday due to poor planning. Lots of great stuff. Pricy though.

So while I'll say this is accurate, i've also found they dont sell junk.

I've found that their quality of hardware and other consumable items are way higher than your typical Home Depot or Lowes, and price wise are on par with a Ace or something like like a smaller shop.

One thing I love is i KNOW they'll have what I need if i go, unlike Ace.

I recently needed a very specific style of pop rivet for a 70's Harley rebuild i'm doing, and they had a bulk box on the shelf.

This. There have only been a couple fasteners they didn’t have, and I’ve been going there since I was 15.

Where have you been for the last 20 years lol

I used to go to Orvac when I needed automotive/electrical stuff. They closed up shop in El Monte, so that sent me on a hunt for a new shop.

When you want to custom make battery cables and heavy wiring, it's hard to find a place that has every option in stock. Any gauge, any color, any lug, any size heat shrink. Orvac is good, but this place is better. Plus they have tons of other fun stuff!

There is a smaller shop still in El Monte called Delta Tronics that's not bad for car stuff, but their selection is limited...

Yeah it's all quality stuff there. But if I spent better time planning and order online I would save a lot of money. To me it's a big convenience store.

I have been going there as well since I was 15 putting the chevelle together. As others have said, with planning and the beauty of the internet, you can save money on your own. However, when you are trying to get your car back on the road you broke at the track and need to drive to school into the next day or so, its a god send. A giant convenience store where you can throw money at a problem and it goes away. The staff is part of the package as well. Sometimes I was embarrassed as it was some fastener I didn't even know what it was technically called (often pre internet), and you could describe and say the size you need, and they would find it for you. Brilliant moments like, "Oh, that's a socket head cap screw, so you need one with an inch of course thread at 5/16", and 2" shank, let's see what we got here" Yeah, totally will pay an extra few bucks for that. They even had both a cutting tap and cleaning tap for when I put water jacket restrictors in my big small block in stock. A weird size that isn't your normal chunk of tool steal sitting around.

No McFadden-Dale but there is a similar place that had about the same selection.

Marshall’s Industrial Hardware on Miramar Rd, by Miramar.

I go in there with an idea of what I want to do.
And usually walk out with what I need and a better idea for the project.

next time you go to McFadden Dale, check out aircraft spruce. they have all sorts of cool tool tools and stuff in there, lots of hardware and AN fittings and hose as well. as a added bonus. if you eat at the Chino airport, they have a courtesy shuttle and will come pick up and take you back.

last time i went there the guy berated me for not having a part number. i had the female side of a weather pack style connector and needed the male side, pins and the tool. we were working on a freinds car in anahiem and i didnt want to drive all the way back to westminster to JK Electronics where i have been buying for years. went to JK the next day and as usual, they treated me well and i walked out with everything i needed and tips on how to do it.

In a day and age where every fuktard is paying above MSRP, it's great!

That, and with the net, sure, the candy is on the screen, but you can't smell it!

Wasn't a lot of people to get 11/16ths x 18 taps from when I was looking as a kid, or the tapered reamers for flipping tierod ends on hot rods;)

Is this place better than G&J Aircraft?

not sure, to be honest i have never dealt with G&J. Aircraft spruce has never given me a reason to look elsewhere. I buy a fair amount from them for work and for the dragsters we do, they always treat me well.

McFadden Dale in Anaheim too. Great place. Stainless, left hand, right hand, metric, SAE, awesome drill bit sets. I've rebuilt three cars, couple sand rails, quads, etc (oh and boats!) with all new nuts and bolts from McFadden Dale. Love that place.

yes it is. i was pretty shocked. i almost never have part numbers when i go for electrical stuff. i try to have one side or atleast a damn good description. have never had a problem with that at JK in Westminster or Marvac in costa mesa the few times i have gone there. JK gets my nod simply for being closer to my house, and the guy at the back counter always remembers me as that "car guy" when i walk up.

G&J has Lots of good stuff. But eventually, JMS started stocking everything in black.

Not much call for stainless anymore. And of course The Hose Man is in El Monte as well.

Wheeler mentioned Anaheim is the better store?

I went to the Ontario location.

Selection is A+
Price is C- at best
& Service is either an A or F (No in between)

I use to go there all the time but the service has declined rapidly so now I only go there for nuts and bolts and speciality items.
