Anybody remember this happening? Just watched the Prime documentary on it and can’t believe I didn’t know about it earlier.

I remember it happening. I was a young pup, only 7. That was all in the same time frame I think as the Night Stalker and just a messed up time for SoCal.

Happened 10 days before the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Los Angeles as well.

It was before. I was stationed at Hood when the Luby's massacre happened (1991). We ate there all the time.

I was 4. The playground at McDonalds was a national treasure back in the day.

If I recall, this contributed to the assault weapon ban in California the first go around.

One of our buddies that heads to Havasu was one of the kids who got shot and survived that day . He talks about it every once in a while as a joke but was crazy when I first found out about it . Definitely one of the lucky ones .

It was my first trip to Socal when I was 16 to visit a friend who had just moved to Ramona. We were on our way to San Ysidro and planning a stop there since he said he knew the McDonald's was there when his corolla broke down about 20 minutes away.

We would have been there exactly at the time of the shooting. Since corollas rarely break down, I figured it just wasn't my time yet and have been a fan of toyota to this day. We got very very lucky.

Yes, I remember it on the news. It was before I moved to SD though.

Remember it well, moved to Cardiff by the Sea in 1983 at 27 years old. Sad...Sad...Sad. It was one of the first senseless killings at the time. Been too many since.

I was in high school and used to eat at that Mc Donald's when we would go to TJ to that little bazar just on the other side of the border.

Haven't thought about it in years but yes, we talked about it at length back then.

We were offline from the rest of the world back then. A good thing, I kind of miss.

I was working at the McDonalds in Brea when all that went down in SD. I didn't know about it until I got home later in the evening.

I quit shortly after (Min wage job) and went to work at a Diamond Bar gas station where I was later held up. Crazy the world is at times.
