That is the extremely short version. It's so fucking dirty. McCabe was involved, the FBI tried to use Gaetz' dad to set up Matt after Matt told his dad to report the extortion attempt to the FBI, there was a CIA/Iran connection to the extortion, it's so fucking wacky.

Bottom line, Matt was single and his "friend" set him up to try to get out of his buddy's sextortion beef, when that didn't work, the FBI tried to use his buddy and his dad to prop up the charges, and that didn't work, and at the end, there was not even a chance of it sticking, unless you listen to the NYT.
