Since some of you enjoyed my hallways bathroom remodel last year, here is the master. The last room to get updated and banish the 1975 out of this place.

Anyway, I only ever put some paint on the wall right before moving in, and didn’t have the budget forever to do a real remodel. I did the hallway bathroom last year and got off the wallet to get this abomination sorted out finally. 11 years on, I still like my greys and a modern look. I am a bachelor so not taking into consideration another set of tastes, even the next owner. Screw all that, designing your remodel to please the next owner is like not banging your chick to leave it tight for the next guy.

Anyway, here is the starting point complete with seashell sink, gold trim, and every shade of beige known to man. Yes filthy, got cleaned before demo

I'm interested in where you purchased your vanity and medicine cabinets
Medicine cabinet is from Amazon, there are quite a few ranging in price. I went the higher end based on reviews and features, and sizes available that would work. This one had really good inside lighting as well, and a stand alone remote control that allows me independent control of the light without using the button on the mirror itself. Most you would run it to switched power, but then it would reset your clock and all that, if you wanted those features. Anyway, the link to the one I ordered:

https://www.amazon.com/KRISTALLUM-B...p_d_grid_rp_0_1_ec_cp_pd_hp_d_atf_rp_3_t&th=1

Add to your cart and watch for a while, significant coupons pop up often.

In regards to a vanity, this is my second time doing this, and finding one that isn't a complete piece of shit is always a challenge. Floating vanities are never going to be made with true real wood unfortunately, so read the reviews and follow up reviews to see if they fall apart or not and how well made they are to begin with. I got this one on wayfair after checking HD, Lowes, Amazon, Builders Surplus, and everywhere else you can online. Wayfair also had a huge wayfair day so big discount again, that's the art with these things. I had stuff sitting in the garage for months before install.

I think I had like 30% off for the vanity. There was another for a bit cheaper, but did not come in single hole, never can get everything :)

You absolutely can get some nice looking and functional fixtures on amazon. I just did a Master’s quarters bathroom redecorate. The fixtures, faucets and shower head were all pretty inexpensive on amazon. What we did was order several of what we thought we might like and returned anything that didn’t look the way we wanted or wasn’t of sufficient quality. These were actually very nice. I’m sure they will last 10 years And then I just replace them. 20 years ago I did my kitchen and bought a Grohe faucet. It was like $500 and we still have it. It still works great but it shows it’s age.

These were cheep AF but they are 12’ up and they look really nice. These were also cheep AF but look very nice and are well enough built. This was also cheep AF but it look and works great, I’ll just replace it every few years. If I was going to re-tile the shower, i would have used a top name valve just because it’s usually a lot of work and damage to replace anything beyond the insert.

I was fortunate that we like the vanity and it already had a nice granite top with nice basins in it. It’s from the late 90’s so it’s an oak face frame and melamine boxes. I’m still going to replace the doors and drawers on it when we do the kitchen.

I did leave the 4” white tile around the shower and tub. I saved $6-8k and all the construction. I did spend a weekend and strip down the gold aluminum shower to the glass. Painted all the parts ORB and put it back together. Sure, a new frameless shower would have looked better but not as good as the taller stack of cash in the gun safe :D

Not too much this time, thats Sherduck Holmes, I pick up a different character every time I go to England, they are in tons of stores, and I have no clue why. Rubber ducks dressed up as British icons.

All done. Now to clean and touch up to get the little annoying things just right for my ADHD.

This mirror/cabinet is cool as it has the mirrors and lights on the inside as well. Even the magnifying mirror for the ladies. USB and power outlets in as well for toothbrush razor, etc.

Nice quality hinges and construction, glad I went with this one.

Black stainless rather than the black matte, this is the best way to quadruple the cost or more of anything hardware related, and need to scour the earth and internet for pieces. It's what I like though, and I just couldn't settle.

Great timing on this thread. Your remodel came out bitchen great job!

Just had a major water leak and the entire master shower/tub have to come out. They have not yet begun demo and this is the first remodel I will have done.

I'm debating just hiring a GC to handle all or just bringing in subs myself. Some say go GC others say hire subs and save the $. I have a good buddy who is a 30+yr tile guy but he is booked for 2-3 months. He offered to give me his contacts for plumber, hot mop guy and another tile guy he knows.

Any suggestions or things to be aware of from the inmates on this project would be greatly appreciated.

Even though mine is just a condo bathroom and a smaller scale, I am always quite particular about the exact materials and such I want, so I set it up with my contractor where I brought in everything myself except for the tile, but I gave him the manufacturer to buy directly from at his contractor price. He also had his own hot mop guy and glass guy and I approved the style from samples. That's what kept me happy in terms of end result, and I was willing to pay a premium for them to do the labor, but not to do the shopping for what best served them. That faucet for silliness retails for like $600 from Delta, I found one for less, but I was willing to pay for what I wanted rather than something close for 100 bucks that I would hate.

My only advice for this approach is to start making your shopping lists and getting the stuff stacked up in the garage, and ready for the day they start. This worked great this time as demo to finished product was 5 working days, and some were half days waiting for stuff to dry :)

Finding someone who would work with me, in this fashion, was the most important part to me being happy and getting what I wanted out of it. Sorry that might not be the best answer to your question.

Great info thank you. Wow 5 days they banged that out quick. I was also told the same about fixtures to start getting that together ASAP so it doesn't slow anything down when the process starts. We plan on expanding the shower a bit to add a bench and instead of the current built in tub do a free standing. I assume there will be a little build out needed before the plumber comes in.

I guess I need to start fixture shopping this weekend.

Nothing is worse than ordering a faucet, it being confirmed, and then never arriving, and can't find a replacement, and its the only one that matches all the other crap you bought, that was a problem with the hallway bathroom I did last year. Hence, get it all in ahead of time this go around.
