Headed to Mammoth for the next 7 days to drive our off road cars. Going to try and share some pictures of our trip and some of the trails we drive if anyone is interested. Kinda nice to put pants, uggs, and a light wrap on now after the crazy warm weather we have all seen recently in So Cal.

Preped and ready also have 4 bottles of vodka and captain. Disregard the orange soda and grape drink, I have a black friend...,

The Rig- anxious to see how the 450 tows the trailer with the buggy and a full load.

Stopped to pick up some speed...

We have arrived, more pix to come...

So mad we didn't get to go this year that was my favorite trip last year. Are you gonna hit Laurel Lake?

Nice, how's the trailer pull and do you like the Sand Storm trailer? :)

The 450 pulls this beast like a wet dream. Night and day difference between the 2006 F350. The grade right before you enter Mammoth was a bear.

We have done mammoth as a 4th of July trip for the last few years and it is a blast. There is never ending trails and Laurel lake is gorgeous.
Where are you guys camped at? We usually stay at Sherwin Creek but had a really bad camp host this last year. I am going to start looking for a new place for next year.
Hope you are having fun up there.

Love camping and riding up there. We usually camp on the Owens river, right between Mammoth and June lake.

Looking forward to seeing your pics! :thumbsup

We did the 4th up in Mammoth 3 years ago and had a great time but the fireworks sucked. We drove down to Crowley Lake and they had a great if not better than Havasu fireworks show.

We are camped in the Pine Glen spots which are group spots and dry camping in the New Shady Rest campground directly across from McDonalds and the Mammoth Mountain RV Park.

It's a pretty cool place and easily accessible to the trail system. We have also stayed in Glass Creek which is a few miles further north. Cool place to camp, but it's all first come first serve.

Nice stuff...you like the Sandstorm? is it framed in aluminum or wood?
In the pre-shopping mode myself, for a 32-35 ft 5'er.

Highly recommend ... Always came here to snow board and loved winter but I think summer is better. Lots to do and see.

Unfortunately it's wood framed but its been a great trailer. I have had 3 Forest River trailers and they have all been great.

We pealed off 144 miles of dirt trails today, we were close to the Nevada state line. We left camp around noon and pulled in at 9:30 tonight long day of driving. Would have went faster without as many Corona stops. It is super dusty out here.

I flew to Mammoth last weekend for the Kamikaze Games and Gran Fondo... I've always wanted to take the dirt toys up there but never pulled the trigger.

How much tuning did you do on the cars to compensate for the elevation?

No tuning needed, 2 cars are efi other 2 have Weber 44's. The cars run good but you can definetly feel the elevation.

It's really nice being street legal. But gets sketchy also. It's real easy to drive in the dirt and drink beer all day until you come across a section where you have to jump on the street.

Great pics and thanks for sharing. We did hot creek in SxS and the cool thing about being up in Mammoth is that the rangers are pretty cool. As long as you don't act like a dick they leave you alone. We ran a good amount of the area on pavement in the SxS and they were cool. Even waved to us when we crossed the 395:eek

Back at work today we had a great trip and would recommend checking out Mammoth to anyone. Overall I think we logged about 700 miles in the dirt. Luckily everyone's cars ran great with no issues.

Here are some of the last pictures I have.

We were told there was a few bears running around the campground. He got into my cooler and took my OJ- see the puncture from his claw. On the last night while we were sitting around the fire he came into our camp and riffled through our trash. I didn't have my phone to take pix but he was a big guy and wasn't scared of us.

The campground host mentioned that a bear got into the underside stroage compartments on their MH and took all of the dog food. They are smart creatures....

In route to the June Lake overlook- notice all of the smoke. This was the worst day with smoke and visibility.

Thanks for sharing the thread and the photo's. I would love to fish the Owens and the East Walker some time. They look like the epitome of a true fly fishing stream. No trees or things to get your line hung up on. Was anything biting besides mosquito's ?
