It's ugly.

I watched a few water dropping planes heading low over to fight the fire from the 101.

At least the wind has died down a bit.

Super scoopers have been picking up water in the ocean. I think they’ve had as many as 14 aircraft fighting it.

IDK, I saw a story on the news several years ago where they were interviewing someone from Edison in Malibu Cyn showing off the insulated wire they were installing

My father was right in the thick of it. The fire started around 11:30pm or so. By 12:30am or maybe earlier (details aren't clear yet), they had been notified of a mandatory evac. His girlfriend packed up and left with the dogs to her kids house. My father stayed behind to defend the home.

He spent from approx 1am to noon today wetting down the home and the surrounding property and beating back the flames with a lot of hoses and sprinklers. He was probably joined by some close neighbors who all were well versed in these fires and were going to stay and fight.

The house has a generator so he had power the entire time, and directv so he could watch the news and keep up with events.

I can't imagine being surrounded by wildfire at your own home at night, and all night, defending the property. Firefighters would show up and assist and then go on to other priorities. He was also surrounded by water dropping helicopters.

I spoke to him today about 1pm (I had to call their landline as cell service was out) and he was tired but sounded good. The home is popular among the neighbors because of the generator so neighbors come by to charge cell phones, cook meals, etc. In fact when I called him he got a visit from a friend of ours, Chris Frost. So he's got people checking on him. He also said if he hadn't stayed behind, the house would have burned. Crazy.

Finally, did I mention he's 84 years old? Badass.

Jumped towards Corral. They’re evacuating the RV park.
