Anyone have recipes they use? The dehydrated people food that we are getting is expensive. When we use to buy it for a small dog it wasn't a big deal with the amount he ate. This new pup is eating a bunch. Went through the "40"lb box in 18 days. At $100 a box and she is still growing it will only get worse.

I like to cook so cooking her food would not bother me.

My girlfriend used to make food for our dog. She researched it and put a lot of work as well as love in to it. We went to new veterinarian and they asked what we fed her. My GF told them about the home made food and tge eork she put in to it, the Vets response was "does that make you feel better about yourself". We found a new Vet after that.

Sorry I missed this , Primarily Brocoli, Costco Chicken thighs and carrots sometimes some Chia seed She varies it a bit with organ meat (liver , gizzards etc) The intsta Pot cooks the chicken to easily de bone all of the broth goes back in to the mix Sebastian gets a single Cup twice a day warmed up in the micro wave (Hes 120lbs) At 10 He seems to thrive on it His coat is nice and hes teeth are great , He also must "utilize" the food well because He doesnt poop alot (like He did years ago with kibbles Rhonda is a very nurturing Pet Mom she doesnt mind the time it takes One batch last about 2 weeks couldnt say what the cost is but not much

No bone in and she uses EVERYTHING when it renders down in the instapot including the skin and connective parts (she counts back the bones to be sure none get in the mix) so the basic is 12 thighs (6lbs) , a pound of broccoli , a bag of small carrots , 4 cans unsalted green beans I pound of beef liver a cup of chia seed no seasoning LOL a bit of olive oil The Instapot is your friend but I cook the organ meat outside for her on the grill cause it stinks

Rhonda says He also gets a multi vitamin and he gets a "6 minute" raw beef rib daily Fukers spoiled right 🤣

6 minutes means she give him the raw bone sets the siri timer and takes it away before he cracks into it

We do this same program for our dogs. Chicken thighs, broccoli, sweet potatoes and string beans.

Rice, carrots, sweet potatoes, egg and proteins.
The egg I used to scramble but now find its easier just to hard boil and dice them up.
Proteins vary between chicken and beef. Dogs did not care for the fish much.

For snacks. A diced apple (skinless) is a huge hit and Melons (watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew) in the summers.
But dogs do love some French fries and refried beans too.

Speaking of organ meat... What happened to the crackpots on YouTube telling people to eat raw liver all the time?

Anyway, I had a dog trainer girl friend for a while, she would feed unsalted green beans to overweight dogs along with a reduced amount of their regular food. The pounds came right off those dogs, they didn't get much out of the beans but it helped the dogs feel full.
