Where do you live? I can likely find you better internet than what you have.

Central Washington, I'm at the end of an old phone line using frontier. our internet sucks to say the least. The plan is to have sky fi come out and install, but the damn snow won't stop falling. :grumble:

Here's my issue. I have an S4 box. Live TV buffers a lot. I checked the speed. It was about 15mps. I upped my internet to 100 mps. I checked the speed again and it's about 25mps. On my phone it shows a little over 100mps.

To me that sounds like a hardware issue. Regardless of where I put the box the max it will do is about 28mps. Are these new boxes going to connect faster than that? Is there an updated wifi dealio?

Anytime I have that issue I unplug the router and my speed shoots back up to 75 or whatever I get. That's on an s3 box. Id estimate the box being about 30' from router. In bhc I can't get a solid signal from the router to my room. That's w I want this new whiz bang box w super antenna or whatever. Oh also I should note the s3 in chino works better w the new Verizon router. (Old one was hit and miss)I bought some black hawk for the lake house that tremendously helped. Might even work in my room now I just haven't tried.

Just a thought for you CobraDave, I had the same issue when checking speeds at my computer. I had 150Mbps internet service and was only seeing 40Mbps at my computer. The computer was running to my router, which was then plugged into my cable modem. I pull the router out and put the computer straight to the modem...BAM - 180Mbps. The old router I had (old Linksys WRT54G) wouldn't move more than about 40Mbps thruput. I bought a new gigabit router with dual channel wireless, etc, and now I've got 180Mbps at my computer. Maybe you have the same bottleneck?

My son's router was doing the same thing back in December. We even had the cable modem replaced and it was still capped at half speed. I factory reset the Lynksys router and full speeds were achieved, I was almost ready to go out and get him a new one.

I have ATT. They have a new wiz bang modem , router dual band. So I just have that connected. The desktop is hard wired to that and that's it. No other routers. I did switch to the 5g band which has faster short range and it did better. But still like 28mps. So we are thinking it's me not the box?

When you upped the service to 100mbps, did you get a new router?
Most of the time, theyll tell you the router youre renting is compatible with the service bought when it isnt the case most of the time.
Think of it as a main water line. Your router is going to feed whatever device uses the most bandwith at the time. The more applications you add to the network, the lower mbps youre going to get spread out throughout the network. So if you have a family of 4 connected to the wifi with their phones plus a laptop plus a tablet plus a media streaming device you can see how performance is going to be affected significantly.
Ditch the modem/router combos and buy yourself a dedicated modem and a dedicated gigabit router. The router/modem combos they offer are garbage since they cant prioritize bandwidth to latency sensitive applications.

Yeah they gave me a new combo router. So you think I need a dedicated router? So why can my phone connect and 130mps and this magic box is at 32mps. That doesn't make sense to me.

Yup, when we went full stream in the house I did not like the Wi-Fi performance from the combo router from the provider, bought a new router and turned off the build in Wi-Fi from the modem and the performance of my network is completely different now.

My guess is your phone antenna is better than the box?

There are multiple factors when it comes to speed but in short, youre phone hogs up most of the bandwith because your modem/router recognizes that its always pushing the most data back and forth at the time. So even when you think youre not using your phone, its always using bandwith and data in the background. Most "lower end" bundles or routers/modems dont offer bandwith management throughout your channels.

Ill give you my set up as an example. Im running the ARRIS SB6190 with the NETGEAR X4S. I can manually adjust, redirect and prioritize the bandwith to whatever device i want. I run my desktop(which has kodi) directly to the router through ethernet and get ~275mbps on a 200/20mbps plan. How? I have no effing clue hahaha but everything changed when i upgraded to a dedicated modem/router.

You dont have to buy both router and modem but it is recommended that you match them specs wise.

You can do what USMC2010 did and turn off the wifi settings on the modem and just buy a better router and it should work in that configuration.

I don't think you can. Once that thing does I never charged it. Just sits on the coffee table.

That's my guess. I'm assuming extremely better. I'm guessing the box one is crap. I wish I didn't have to buy a router to compensate.

I called the 800 and got Annabel on the phone. With her help, I finally figured out that:

RG6 Pro $449 - does not include Channel Up (live channels - for sports and other live stuff).
RG6 Pro w/Channel Up $529 - Same as above, but includes Channel Up.
RG6 Pro Premium Combo pack $549 - Same as above, but includes keyboard remote. This is the one I'm going to get.

Apparently they also will only ship to your billing address, which doesn't work for me. Hopefully we can get that sorted so I can have it shipped to work and not left on my doorstep for someone to steal. Waiting for a call back to place the order now.

Anyone using the channel up app? Does it work basically just like a tv with channels? I'd like to hear from someone that uses it before I pony up the $30 buy in.

I use it but mainly for ppv and sports. I'll fire it up when I get to bhc and see. I should be there by 730

I just haven't played with this thing enough to know what's what. Haven't been able to figure out live tv. There's SOOOOO many apps!

I did cancel my directv, netfilix and HBOGO today and saved $200 a month.

Can you watch HBO only series like The Young Pope?

With these boxes, it's not about what you watch it's about HOW you watch. I get everything, all the time, always. It just takes some getting used to and I still haven't found a "tv style" app that does channels. Not a huge deal though. I cancelled my direct tv today.

Found a tv app tonight on salt. Was watching legion on the box as it was live on FX. Changed Chanel's like tv.

It's just gonna take getting used to. But when you figure it out. It's as easy as tv. And free.

I'm in thanks Dave. How about remotes for my s3's? I hit you up on voxer a while back but never followed up.

I have replacement remotes. Just go to my website renegadebox.tv and buy one they are only 20 bucks.

Well Dave if you purchased one they will normally go out that day or the next day depending on the time you purchased at.

Will we get an email with a tracking number? My order was complete on 2/8/17 and I haven't seen anything since then.

I talked to Dave last night.. He said yours went out the day after you ordered it. I believe he sent you a tracking # already.

Quick question...I just got my box and I don't see component outputs on it (YPbPr) as listed on the website. That's what I was going to use to connect to my TV. What am I missing?

I would be ready to go on this except this is an issue. I cannot get decent speeds where I live near Walnut Grove.

If you can't get above 15 (no devices). i wouldn't do it.. even then I wouldn't stream hd links.

A modern tv with hdmi inputs[emoji12][emoji85]

Yeah yeah...just can't see throwing out a $2k HD TV because it doesn't have the newest connection format. I paid the $400+ for this box and expected to plug it into the composite outputs, just like my blu-ray player. No dice. Tried the analog output and something is not working right there. I posted a video and questions on the Renegade FB support page. Got some initial info last night, but nothing since.

I went down to Fry's and bought a HDMI to component video converter for $40, so I'll try that tonight. Sure hope that works. The HDMI definitely works...tested that on a 19" monitor I have and it looks great. Can't wait to put it to use!

Sorry to here you are having this issue but download speed is an essential part of the streaming equation. If you don't have the speed then you can't get the performance out of any magic box let alone the Renegade.

Everyone lets start over! Because of all the recent activity with other boxes being sold for ridiculous prices, I agreed to offer a ridiculous price to Dave as well. Included in the deal is a Renegade RG6 PRO, Channelup, Remote Control, AC Adapter and HDMI Cable as well as free Tech Support. Go to this link https://renegadebox.tv/cart/ click on RG6 PRO Combo Pack w/Channel UP, enter Coupon Code RDP150 checkout and your done. to add the Mini Keyboard, order the RG6 Pro Premium Combo Pack. Do not concern yourself with tech support packages. You will always be able to speak with someone. We do however want people to sign up and use the Facebook Support Group and the open forum at renegadetv.info once you are familiar with the product.

The combo pack with Channel Up is $529. I opted for the mini remote for $20 more for $549 - $150 = $399.

Holding pattern until better internet is available, check.

Unfortunately that may be years........
We are running wireless as it is the only option available.
