For all you 7.3 power strokers…. I’ve been slowly making my 2000 excursion more reliable, and efficient. Not looking to add more power with tuners or big ass injectors. Been trying to keep it as stock as possible. I don’t want to sacrifice the reliability, and longevity. The main goal is making it more efficient. I’ve taken a airplane maintenance style approach. Replace old parts before they go bad!

If you don’t know about the website RIFFRAFFDiesel.com then your missing out. If you do know about it then you wallet and bank account is missing some funds. It is the top site for OEM and aftermarket parts.

Recently I added some Parts’s. In addition to the parts we dropped the tank and changed the filters inside.

Out of all the parts the turbine wheel, and wastegate were the best money ever spent on the 7.3. Highly recommended!

The riffraff up pipes are also an amazing replacement part that far exceeds the stock ones.

Figured while we were there to change fuel lines, and add a cross over to help the injectors a little.

I’ll report back on the performance / fuel economy soon.

I used RiffRaff a while back to pickup a S&B Air Filter Box. Makes a huge difference if you don’t have one already. Way better than the OEM Filtration System!

I've been buying exclusively from Riffraff for nearly 10 years. Clay has weeded through the garbage and put together the no nonsense best upgrades and supporting mods on the internet.
2 things I would highly recommend on ANY 7.3 are the FRx and high flow CVD fittings. Turns the deadhead fuel rail into a regulated fuel return. It quiets down the clack a bit and helps to eliminate any air in the system after the fuel system has been worked on, significantly reducing damage to the injectors.
CNC Fabrication is another company that RiffRaff uses.

Yep. Been using Clay for 10+ years. Good dude. He's gotten many paychecks from me.
Bob at Diesel Orings is good too. Been awhile, but his shipping was always fast and you actually ordered from the same dude that shipped it. The owner..

So the cross over has definitely made the truck quieter. Still a 7.3, but noticeable.

The wheel is a whisler for sure! Not to loud though.

Taking her through the grapevine in the morning. Can’t wait to see how she climbs the hill with a small load.

Gonna get the S&B CAI next, and maybe a MBRP Stainless 4” exhaust…

THANKS CLAY!

Which wheel and wastegate actuator? They have quite a few of each.

I just did the same exact thing to my 02 7.3 back in December. Truck has 150k miles and the up pipes were leaking in addition to some other exhaust/boost leaks. I figured since I had the whole valley torn apart, I would do everything. Good chunk of change but I love this truck. Runs better than new now.

Oh and I bought a topside creeper just for this job. Lifesaver.

The topside creeper is a game changer.

I kneed to get one of those. See what I did there? Kneed. After hanging over the core support on my 4X4 Ex for a few hours, it wrecks my knees and back.

I'm gonna do some work on it when the weather gets a little warmer, and that ladder creeper looks like a must have. I might buy a tire ladder too. These look like a good solution for reaching stuff on the sides and back of the engine.

I also have a 2000 7.3 excursion, I went the more power route, KC turbos tow pkg, S&B intake, MBRP exhaust and a bunch of other stuff from riffraff and others, it currently makes 365hp/652tq not sure how economical, I drive it everyday 90 miles round trip while the lexus hybrid sits in the garage, also check out http://www.guzzle7pt3.com and https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum29/

The best mod you can do to a 7.3 is to rip out that crappy stock intake box and replace it with a Ford AIS system or the Napa 6637 intake mod. The stock boxes suck because the plastic tabs break and it won't clamp tight letting dust get in and dusting the engine.

The most recent turbo wheel available. They have 3 listed, but only one is available.

I put on the turbo smart actuator. Also changed the vacuum lines going to it.

I have had a Cummins before. Owner it for 7 years. I loved it, but boy did it have its fair share of issues.

I’d try another one.
