So in our Strike Outs, Base Hits, and Home Runs thread, one of the things that was asked for was some High Performance Outboard Content. In my humble opinion for a boat that can pull double duty as a family river boat but still break off just about anything you run across in accelleration and top speed it's almost impossible to beat an old school Mach 22.
This boat is bad to the bone, but I'm going to jump right into the twist. If it wasn't fast enough already the original owner had it rigged with a pretty unbelievable Nitrous kit. The kit itself was removed before the boat went up for sale, but the boat is wired and setup for it so I don't think it would be hard to do it again.
I have to admit I haven't seen a nitrous kit in a boat before where you could turn the bottles on and off at the dash before. Maybe DCBRigger will chime in and throw up some pics of the original installation if they have some?
Note the bottle pressure gauge, and what I can only assume is a seperate fuel pressure gauge for the Nitrous system.
(Not sure on the knob under the dash on the right. I just saw it in the picture right now)
You can see some blank holes in the transom where the Nitrous system was installed. I'd look for original pics of the boat and replicate it to a T. Personally I'd probably take it back to DCB to have it done if I was a serious buyer.
The boat is over at OCM in Havasu, I didn't ask him a price on it mostly because I don't want to kick tires, and I'm not a buyer on it. Through just BS'ing with him though he told me both Powerheads are basically new. I'd guess the price to be in the upper 40's with that power and it being fresh. I didn't crawl through it, but with the exception of the holes in the transom for mounting the nitrous hardware it looked pretty much showroom to me.
I wish DCB still built little Hot Rods like this. If you ever get a chance to ride in one, you'll never forget it, and you'll come away with a little more hair on your chest.
